According to the new guidelines, seat allotment through DASA UG 2017 will be based strictly on valid SAT Suject Test score obtained by the candidate and the preferences entered at the time of registration. Seats will be allotted on the basis of the applicant’s merit and preference of seats. Candidates who meet the cutoff of DASA UG 2017 be eligible for admission into the participating institutes. The application form for editing was available till June 19, 2017 (6 PM). A new schedule for counselling has also been published. Only three rounds of counselling will be held. The Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur is the coordinating institution of the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA). Under the scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, DASA UG 2017 provides admission to all foreign students in the undergraduate engineering programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other Centrally Funded & Premier Technical Institutes. There are around 45 participating institutes under DASA UG 2017. The foreign engineering aspirants had to fill and submit the online application form, which was available from April 1 to June 12. After submitting the DASA 2017 UG online application form, the applicants also had to submit their SAT subject test score to VNIT, Nagpur through College Board, USA and the code was 7035. LATEST: New Seat Allotment porcedure announced for DASA UG 2017 Admission. 


DASA UG 2017 offers admission to foreign nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). The application forms are available only in online mode. 


Important: The CIGW fees for UG Dasa 2017 has been revised to Rs. 125000 per student per annum, payable either in Indian Rupees (INR) or equivalent US dollars. The candidates were able to unlock their application from June 15 (6 PM) to June 19, 2017 (6 PM). NRI applicants were able to switch their category before June 19, 2017. Other candidates will be able to edit/add academic programme choices. The schedule of DASA UG 2017 has been rescheduled due to this change. The first round of seat allotment will be held on June 30, 2017.

The SAT score cutoff for the first round of seat allotment has been released by the admission authorities. All of those candidates who meet the cutoff will be allotted seats into the participating institutes of DASA UG 2017. The cutoff scores for each institute and course is different.

DASA UG 2017 currently offers admission to all eligible applicants into 45 participating engineering institutes of the nation. These participating institutes include National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), School of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) and other premier Technical Institutions in India. DASA UG Eligibility Criteria 2017


The applicants who wish to get allotted under DASA UG 2017 will have to fulfil some criteria which have been set by the admission committee. Different criteria related to age, nationality and academics will have to be met by the applicants. In case the applicant fails to meet any of the eligibility criteria, then he/she will not be allowed to participate in the admission procedure.

  • Nationality: The applicants should be Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin/Overseas Citizen of India who have completed their qualifying examination in any country (including India). Indian national who have been studying abroad ( must have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) exam from outside India) are also eligible for admission.

  • Age: Should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.

  • Educational Qualifications: The applicant must have qualified 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with Physics, Mathematics and one of the three subjects from (Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology. 60% aggregate marks or 6.50 CGPA should have been secured by the applicants in the qualifying examination. Finally, the applicant should have a minimum total valid score of 2000 (out of maximum 2400) in SAT Subject Tests (Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry) and a minimum total score of 1600 (out of maximum 2000) in old format SAT.

DASA UG 2017 Application Procedure


To be eligible for the admission procedure of DASA UG 2017, the applicants had to successfully register themselves. The application form of DASA UG 2017 was available in online mode for all applicants from April 1 to June 12. No other mode of application was available. Before filling the application form, all applicants were requested to read the eligibility criteria. Valid personal and academic information had to be submitted in the application form. Scanned copies of the applicant’s photograph, signature and relevant documents also had to be uploaded in the application form. Payment of the required application fees also had to be done. Last day for submission of the online application form was June 12, 2017. The candidates could edit their application form till June 19, 2017.

DASA UG 2017 Application Fees


The applicants were required to pay the application fees and first-semester tuition fees while registering themselves for admissions. The fees had to be paid either by E-Payment i.e., credit card or debit card or through SWIFT transfer. All applicants had to pay the required fees. Failure to pay the fees will lead to the rejection of the application form. Details regarding the payment of fees through SWIFT transfer will be notified later.

DASA UG Merit List 2017


The admission committee will prepare a merit list consisting of the eligible applicants on the basis of total SAT Subject Test scores only. Those applicants whose valid SAT Subject Test scores were received by VNIT, Nagpur before the last date directly from the College Board will be eligible for the merit list and seat allotment procedure.


In case, two or more applicants have secured the same SAT Subject Test scores, then the inter se merit of the applicant will be determined using the following procedure:

  • By Marks obtained in SAT Subject Test for Mathematics Level 2 followed by Physics.

  • If the tie is still not broken, then the applicant who is older in age will be given preference.

DASA UG Seat Allotment 2017


According to a new set of guidelines released by DASA, seat allotment of DASA UG 2017 will be purely based on valid SAT Subject Test scores and choice filling. Also, candidates belonging to CIWG category will be considered for only those seats that are reserved for the category. Likewise, other candidates will be entitled to only non-CIWG seats. In the special round, CIWG seats will be first filled by CIWG candidates. In case of unfilled CIWG seats, such seats will be filled by other category candidates. Higher the applicant in the merit list, the higher priority he/she will get during allotment process. The list of the applicants and their allotted institute will be released online. No individual allotment letters/email will be sent to the selected applicants. The applicants who are allotted their first choice will have the option of accepting or declining the allotted seat. Up-gradation of seats will be another option which will be provided to those applicants who were allotted any choice of course. The applicants will have to confirm their allotted choices within the specified time. Failure to do so will lead to the disqualification of the applicant.


After the three rounds of allotment session are over, the applicants will have to report at their allotted institute for admission. Verification of documents and medical fitness test will be conducted at the Institute to confirm the admission.
