DASA UG 2018

DASA UGDASA UG 2018: Undergraduate engineering admissions to foreign nationals, Non-Resident Indian (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) is offered through DASA UG 2018. The admission process of DASA UG 2018 will be conducted by Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur. DASA UG 2018 is the pathway for B.Tech admissions into the NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other Centrally Funded & Premier Technical Institutes for candidates who have foreign based qualifications. The online application form of DASA UG 2018 will be available tentatively in the first week of April 2018. The candidates will have to submit their SAT Subject Test Scores tentatively before the second week of June 2018. The merit list for admissions will be prepared based on the SAT score submitted by the candidates directly through the college board. The DASA UG 2018 allotment process will be held online and in three rounds. All eligible candidates will be allotted according to his/her SAT scores and preferred institutes. A special round of allotment will be conducted if required. There are around 45 participating institutes under DASA UG exam. Latest: According to media reports, there may be a change in the DASA scheme. Whether it will be revamped or scrapped is yet not announced by the authorities. As soon as the authorities notify this, the details will be updated.

DASA UG 2018 Eligibility Criteria

 

All candidates will be required to meet the decided eligibility criteria of DASA UG 2018 for admissions. Various eligibility factors such as age, academics, residential details and more has to be satisfied by the candidates before registering themselves.

  • Age: The candidates who are born on or after October 1, 1993 will be eligible for admissions.

  • Residential Requirement: All foreign national studying in any country including India or Indian nationals studying abroad will be eligible for admissions. The Indian nationals should have studied atleast five years (inclusive of 11th and 12th standard or equivalent and not beyond) in a foreign country during the last eight years and must have passed the qualification examination from abroad.

  • Academic Eligibility: The candidates should have passed their qualifying examination i.e., 10+2 or equivalent from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. The subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology should have been studied by the candidates during their 11th and 12th standard. Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination with the above mentioned subjects in the academic year 2017-18 and are expecting their results to be released by September 15, 2018 will also be eligible for admission.

  • Marks Required: Should have secured a minimum of atleast 60% aggregate marks or 6.50 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) in the qualifying examination.

  • SAT Scores: The candidates should have scored a minimum total valid score of 1800 in SAT Subject Tests (Subjects: Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry). The scores has to be sent directly through college board to VNIT Nagpur.

15% seats through DASA 2018 are reserved for Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries (CIWG). The eligibility criteria for CIWG will be the same as that of NRIs. The applicants under this category will have to submit their proof of either parent working in a gulf country (passport of the parent working in the gulf/parent’s visa/parent’s work permit/certificate from the organization the parent is working at). The countries under CIWG are – Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates.

 

DASA UG 2018 Application Form

 

The admission authorities will be releasing the online application form of DASA UG 2018 tentatively from the first week of April 2018. All candidates will be required to register themselves for the admission process. The last date for the submission of filled DASA UG 2018 application form will be tentatively in the second week of June 2018. Step 1 – Registration

 

The first steps is registration. The candidates can follow the listed steps to successfully register themselves and fill the online application form of DASA UG 2018:

  • The candidates will have to read the eligibility criteria and select “I Agree”

  • Valid email ID has to be submitted by the candidates.

  • Applicant ID will be displayed on the screen. The same will also be sent to the registered email ID.

  • The candidates will have to create a password.

  • The registration process will be completed after the password is created.

  • The applicant ID and password has to be kept for future reference.

Next, the candidates will have to submit their personal and academic information in the online application form of DASA UG 2018. Using the registered email ID and password, the candidates will have to login and fill the required details.

Step 3 - Payment of Application Fees

 

The candidates will be able to pay the application fees through two methods – SWIFT transfer or E-Payment. Along with the application fees, the candidates will also have to pay the first semester tuition fee. Credit card or debit card can be used by the candidates for E-Payment. A transaction ID will be generated after the successful transaction. If the candidates are not allotted seats or withdraws the application before a specific time, then his/her tuition fees will be refunded.

DASA UG 2018 Merit List

 

The admission authorities will be preparing the merit list of DASA UG 2018 which will be announced in online mode. DASA UG 2018 merit list will consist of those candidates who are eligible for admission based on their total SAT Subject Test scores which were received by VNIT Nagpur. Only those candidates who have submitted their SAT score directly through the college board will be eligible for the counselling and seat allotment process.

If a situation arises where two or more candidates have scored the same SAT Subject Test scores, then the following process will be used to determine the inter se merit:

  • Marks obtained in SAT Subject Test for Mathematics Level 2 followed by Physics.

  • If the tie is still not broken, then the candidate who is older in age will be given preference over the younger one.

DASA UG 2018 Cutoff

 

The cutoff of DASA UG 2018 will be released by the concerned authorities. The candidates will be able to check the SAT score cutoff for allotment of seats into the participating institutes of DASA UG 2018. The cutoff will be different for CIWG and Non-CIWG candidates. The candidates will also have to note that the cutoff for each institute and course will also be different.

 

DASA UG 2018 Seat Allotment

 

All of the candidates who are present in the released merit list will be eligible for the counselling and seat allotment of DASA UG 2018. The allotment process will be held in online mode. No individual allotment letter/email will be sent to the candidates who are successfully allotted seats in the participating institutes. DASA UG 2018 seat allotment will be done based on the SAT scores of the candidates and his/her filled choices. The allotted candidates will have the option of either accepting the allotted seat or upgradation. The choice has to be confirmed within the specified time. If the candidates fail to confirm their choice then he/she will be disqualified. Following the conclusion of the three allotment sessions, the candidates will have to report at their allotted institute for admission. For confirmation of admission, verification of documents and medical fitness test will be conducted by the admission authorities.
