Hello Puja

Yes , you can change your category in the April JEE Main session . The category you select during the January session does not lock you into it for the entire year . During the correction window for the April attempt , you will have the opportunity to update your category if you have your certificate by then .

Since you are in the General category for the January attempt , you will need to make sure that you change it to your correct category ( VJNT or OBC ) during the correction period .

This is completely valid as long as you provide the required category certificate during the April session .

Hope it helps you .

ALL THE BEST

There is separate minority list of central government and state government. The central list of OBCs is available on the NCBC website. You can check from there.

Moreover If a candidate who doesn't fall under castes recognised as SC/ST/OBC by the Govt. of India & doesn't avail any form of reservations (except horizontal reservations like ExS, PwD, etc.) & his/her annual family income is above the prescribed limit of 8 lakhs by Government of India (or as prescribed by state govt in the respective states), then he/she will be recognised as a candidate from General category and not from EWS category.

However you can get here help for reservation in JEE

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-reservation-criteria

Hello,

As a Shaikh Muslim falling under the BCE category in Telangana, you may face challenges in obtaining an OBC-NCL certificate. However, you can try to use your BCE certificate under the OBC-NCL category for JEE Mains, but it's essential to note that this is subject to verification and approval by the JEE authorities.

According to the Central List of OBCs, the BCE category is not explicitly mentioned. However, Telangana state has its own list of backward classes, which includes the BCE category. To use your BCE certificate, you'll need to provide a certificate from the competent authority in Telangana, stating that the BCE category is equivalent to the OBC-NCL category.
