    Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali was established in 2007 and has secured the 70th position in the overall NIRF ranking. The campus is spread across 125 acres and has 119 faculty members for a batch size of 1139 students in a five-year UG program. Out of 1139 students, 60.05 per cent are boys and 39.95 per cent are girls. 94.21 per cent of the students are from outside Punjab state, nine international students, and 5.79 per cent of the students are from within Punjab state.

    Based on the NIRF overall 2025 data, the intake in a five-year UG course for the 2023-2024 batch was 225 students, and 197 students were admitted. Out of 197 students, 157 graduated. Out of 157 students, 3 were placed, and 115 went for higher studies. This institute is well-known for its strong academics and research ability in the field of science. The majority of students in this institute opt for higher education, which is why the number of students placed is not much higher. The median salary was Rs. 11.4 LPA, reflecting a significant increase over the years. The median salary at IISER Mohali is extremely high for the placed candidates despite a smaller number of placed students.

    One needs to take the IISER Aptitude Test(IAT) and apply for IISER counselling.

    Minimum Marks Requirement

    At least 60% marks (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% marks (SC/ST/PwD) in Class XII examination.

    Selection Process

    Admissions are based on performance in the IISER Aptitude Test.

    • To secure a seat in a five-year BSMS dual degree course at IISER Mohali, candidates must appear for IAT (IISER Aptitude Test).

    • General, EWS, OBC-NCL category students with at least 60 per cent marks and SC, ST, PwD category students with at least 55 per cent marks in class 12th are eligible to apply.

    • The selection process is based on the IAT score through IISER counselling.
