Is calculator allowed in JEE Mains 2026? : Candidates attempting the exam often wonder calculator is allowed in JEE Mains 2026? Calculators are not allowed in JEE Main examination based on the JEE bulletin 2026. According to the latest notification, neither a virtual nor an on-screen calculator will be provided for calculation purposes in the Joint Entrance Examination Main. The on-screen calculator in JEE Main 2026 will help candidates find square roots, percentages, etc., apart from basic mathematical operations. However, Candidates will be given a rough sheets for calculations, focusing on problem solving skills and all the necessary formula. The JEE Mains exam is considered to be lengthy and of a moderate difficulty level. The authority will conduct the JEE Main exam for three hours. JEE Main 2026 exam for session 1 is scheduled from January 21 to 30, while session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9, 2026. Furthermore, the authority is conducting the JEE Main 2026 registration from October 31 to November 27, 2025.
Among the highly competitive NITs, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, NIT Warangal, NIT Karnataka (Surathkal), and NIT Rourkela recorded the lowest closing ranks, with all remaining under 6,000 in the open category. NIT Tiruchirappalli remained a top choice, with its closing rank tightening to 3,283 in 2025, compared to 15,587 in 2024 and 7,153 in 2023. NIT Warangal followed with a closing rank of 5,057, while NIT Surathkal closed at 4,347. The trends over the last three years indicate stable demand across these institutes, with only marginal variations in closing ranks.

Candidates are not allowed to carry any type of calculator, either a scientific calculator or a simple calculator, to the exam hall. They can't even use the virtual calculator, which used to be provided in the previous JEE Mains examination on the computer screen. Candidates will be provided a scramble pad for the rough work.

Candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam must follow the guidelines mentioned in the NTA JEE Mains admit card. Below are a few important guidelines.
Report to the allotted test centre an hour before the exam
Follow the JEE Main dress code.
Carry a transparent water bottle, personal hand sanitiser, transparent ballpoint pen, and passport-size photo.
Carry JEE admit card and a valid photo ID.
Candidates will be provided with a scramble pad for rough work. Hand over the pad before leaving the exam hall.
Follow the instructions provided by the invigilator
Candidates will be allowed to leave the exam hall after the test is over.
