GATE CSE PYQs are provided and can be practised for both subject-wise and complete paper practice. The candidates must start solving GATE CSE PYQs topic-wise questions while studying the chapter and must finally practise the complete paper in exam conditions. Refer to the GATE CSE last 10 year question papers given below:
There are many advantages to solving GATE previous year CSE questions. Apart from getting more and more practice, it will also enable you to have an idea about concept application in the actual exam.
1. Understanding the Pattern of GATE CSE Exam
GATE CSE previous year papers will give an insight into the kind of questions asked in the exam. Candidates will get an idea of different kinds of questions like MCQs, MSQs and NAT-type questions.
2. Identification of Important Topics
Once students start solving questions from many previous years, they will be able to find out which topics are always covered in the exam. This will help them to decide which topics should be revised and practised more.
3. Understanding the Question Difficulty Level
GATE CSE papers consist of questions of varying difficulty levels. The PYQs will help students to differentiate between difficult, easy, and moderate questions.
4. Time Management
Once students solve a complete GATE CSE paper with a timer, it will help them to learn time management for the actual exam.
Along with GATE previous year questions CSE, the candidate must also try solving GATE PYQ CSE topic-wise. This will be beneficial for the syllabus completion phase.

Solving PYQs is not enough. It is necessary to have a systematic approach for using PYQs.
1: Covering the Basics First
It is essential to first cover the concepts present in the GATE CSE syllabus. Only then must one start solving previous year questions.
2: Solve Questions Related to Each Subject Separately
After covering a subject, one must solve PYQs related to the subject. After completing the Operating Systems chapter, for example, one must solve PYQs on process scheduling, deadlocks, memory management, and other concepts covered under the subject.
3: Learn Why Options are Correct/Incorrect
Apart from checking whether an answer is right or wrong, one must understand why an option is correct and why others are incorrect.
4: Make a Mistakes Book
Questions that were left or answered incorrectly must be noted in a separate book. The reason for committing the mistake must also be mentioned.
5: Try Full Papers
Once you have completed most of your syllabus, begin attempting full-length GATE CSE papers in a simulated examination environment.
6: Performance Analysis
Each time after attempting a paper, analyze the following:
Number of questions attempted
Number of questions correct
Number of questions wrong
Number of questions not attempted
Time taken
Topics where errors were made
Questions taking too much time

There is no set of number of years which each and every individual has to solve. Candidates are expected to solve as many as genuine previous year papers as possible once they have covered the necessary topics.
Previous 5 years: Candidates must attempt the last 5 years' GATE CSE papers to get acquainted with the current pattern of the examination.
Previous 10 years: 10 years' papers must be solved for a better preparation level.
Topic-wise practice: During studying the entire syllabus, candidates can also solve PYQs on a topic-wise basis.
Practice full-length paper: Once the syllabus is completed, previous year papers must be attempted as a complete test with time limits.
Analyse mistakes: Every time after solving a paper, candidates should analyse the mistakes made and study the relevant topics again.
Working on GATE CSE PYQs can be a great way for candidates to enhance their accuracy, speed, and knowledge of concepts. These questions can be used by you as a tool to identify your weaknesses.
1. Master the theory first and then solve PYQs.
2. Solve the problems without looking for the answer straightaway.
3. Practice numerical as well as theoretical questions.
4. Revise the areas where you make mistakes.
5. Take a timer while solving full question papers.
6. Analyse each mock test and previous year papers.
7. Make notes of formulas and revise them often.
8. Do not neglect the difficult-looking questions.
9. Solve the wrongly solved questions after a few days.

Hello Student, your CSE background and 4 years of automotive experience can be useful for an Embedded Systems specialization. However, for an M.Tech , I would be cautious about choosing a fully online/distance programme, as recognition and mode of delivery depend on the university and applicable regulatory rules. I can
