    Founded in 1854, COEP is one of the oldest engineering institutions in Asia, established even earlier than the IITs. This college is backed by 249 faculty members, and the NIRF ranking is between 151 and 200. Out of 3,954 students intake for B.Tech, 72.2 per cent of the students are boys and 27.8 per cent of the students are girls. 91.8 per cent of students are from Maharashtra (home-state-quota), and 4.5 per cent of the students are from outside Maharashtra (All-India-quota).

    As per NIRF data, the student intake for the academic year 2024-2025 was 570, but the number of admitted students was 863, including lateral entry, and 745 students graduated.     In COEP Technological University Pune 80 per cent of sanctioned intake seats are admitted via Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) and 20 per cent sanctioned seats are admitted via JEE Mains (All India Quota).

    Total seat intake for B.Tech Civil Engineering is 150 of which 120 seats are for the Maharashtra quota students and 30 seats are through JEE quota for students outside the Maharashtra state. Similarly, for the CSE branch, the student intake is 300 of which 240 seats are reserved for the Maharashtra state students, and 60 seats are through JEE quota for students outside the Maharashtra state.
