Among the top 100 KCET rank holders, Karnataka state board students secured a commanding presence, accounting for 79 positions. In comparison, 19 students from CBSE schools made it to the top 100, while one candidate from the Telangana state board also featured in the list. State board students performed exceptionally well across multiple streams. In veterinary sciences, yoga and naturopathy, and nursing, they claimed eight of the top 10 ranks. Their dominance was even more pronounced in agriculture, where all top 10 positions were secured by Karnataka state board candidates. KCET-2026: Clarification on PUC Exam Marks and Result
The authority, KEA, tweeted today to clarify and remove confusion for students. Below are the statements published for the candidates giving the KCET 2026:
- The authority stated that the higher marks between Exam-1 and Exam-2 will be considered for the CET result for science students of 2nd PUC
- Candidates should know that the like last year, best marks from both exam-1 and exam-2 will be used for CET rank calculation.
- The CET result will be announced only after the results of both 2nd PUC exams are declared.
- This clarification applies only to Karnataka State PUC students. It does not apply to students from CBSE, other central boards, or other state boards.
How is KCET Rank Calculated?
KEA calculates the KCET 2026 rank based on marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subjects in KCET 2026 and the marks obtained by candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in the Qualifying Examination, taken in equal proportions.
KEA KCET Passing Marks 2026
As per the KCET brochure, the minimum passing marks for all Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates shall be 12 out of 50 marks in the Kannada Language Examination conducted by KEA to be considered for assignment of ranks and to become eligible for allotment of seats in CET. (The Kannada Language Test paper will be of 4th Standard Level).
Raising Objections Against KCET 2026 Result

- As per KCET result analysis, more girls appeared for the Karnataka CET exam as compared to boys. Several girls and boys appeared at 1,29,780 and 1,14,565 respectively.
- The total number of candidates who appeared only for PCM was 43,316, while for only PCB, 3,917 students took the KCET test. However, the number of candidates who appeared for both (PCM and PCB) were 1,96,112.
- Around 2,03,381 students appeared for the KCET engineering exam.
