Questions related to WBJEE
can I get admission in jadavpur university with obc b rank 983 and gmr rank 11825 in 2022 WBJEE? I am West Bengal resident
If you consider the admission possibilities JU is one of the best choices, and admission into that campus is indeed strict. So yes with 11825 GMR and 983 merit rank for Obc-b category, you can expect branches like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Printing Engineering, Pharmacy, Food Processing Engineering etc branches. However it is just a prediction, you can get a better perception once you get the after counselling seat matrix.
In WBJEE previous year cut off list, under every category section a rank is given.... Then what type of this rank gmr or category rank??
This is a very common confusion among candidates, so let me clarify it to you. The opening and closing ranks that you see on the previous year WBJEE cutoff list is your General Merit Rank (GMR) and college is alloted on the basis of this very rank.
GMR is your overall rank/position (among all the candidates who have given WBJEE) which is given to you on the basis of your WBJEE score.
Now, category rank is basically where you stand among the other candidates belonging to the same category, as yours. They generally don't ask for your category rank during e-counselling registration process. But there is a use of it later, only and only if your category rank is very good. And a very good category rank is any rank under 1000.
There are a number of seats reserved in each college, for separate categories. This is sometimes a matter of luck, so, if your category rank is good (i.e <1000) they tend to consider it during admission, and check whether your rank is better than the other candidates (of your category) who have applied for the same stream as yours. If your rank is the best out of all, then you get the seat. And if it isn't due to some reason, then like earlier, they will consider your GMR only.
So you will have to rely on your GMR more, to get you into a college.
I hope that was helpful.
I had 6 subjects in 12th CBSE- english, phy, chem, maths, bio and additional as physical education. Now applying for counselling in WBJEE, what should be my maximum marks 500 or 600? If 500, should I leave out physical educations marks?
Your additional marks is not calculated in your total marks as even if you fail your additional subject your overall all status is passed.
So you should only enter marks of your five main subjects in upcoming counseling that is marks of English, physics, chemistry biology and total marks out of 500 marks.
Your overall percentage is also calculated by adding your main subject marks but not the additional subject marks.
So wherever it's asked you can mention those subjects and leave additional subject.
Hope this information helps you
All the best
My WBJEE GMR rank is 39708 and TFW rank is 8942, Please suggest me best college according my rank in which I can get CSE branch in TFW quota
Dear Student ,
First of all , remember that .. WBJEE counselling is based only on GMR and not in any category rank.
Well, based on last year cut off details of WBJEE , with your GMR , you have good chances to get the following private colleges in CSE domain :
- Budge Budge Institute of Technology, Budge-Budge-63544
- Dream Institute of Technology, Bishnupur, 24-Parganas-South-48850
- Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Panihati, Sodepur-40783
- Jis College of Engineering, Kalyani, Nadia -48862 and others
But , you need to remember that each year the cut off can change due to many important factors like :
- Seat capacity
- Difficulty level of exam
- No of students appeared etc.
