Hey! With a GMR rank of 22,259 and SC rank of 1996 in WBJEE 2025, getting Jadavpur University for BE is quite difficult, especially for CSE, IT, or ECE, since cutoffs for these branches are very high even under SC quota. However, you might have some chances in lower cutoff branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Production Engineering, depending on the 2025 cutoff trends. I’d suggest you keep Jadavpur as an option but also fill choices for other government colleges like Kalyani Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, and HIT Kolkata, as your chances are better there.
Hey! With a GMR rank of 85,851 and SC rank of 10,051 in WBJEE, chances for getting CSE, IT, or core branches like Electrical/EEE in government colleges are unfortunately very slim. The cutoffs for these streams under SC quota generally close at a much better rank. However, you might still explore a few options in private colleges under the WBJEE counselling process, where you can get CSE/IT at this rank. If you are only targeting government colleges, then options in these specific branches look difficult, but you can consider other branches in lower cutoff govt. engineering colleges like civil or production if your main aim is a government seat. Otherwise, private colleges will be more realistic for CSE/IT.
Hey Saloni:)
Thanks for reaching out!
Yes , There's a good chance for you to get a seat in Kalyani Government Engineering College in the later rounds of WBJEE counselling, since there are multiple rounds, many students either upgrade or leave their seats, which opens up opportunities for others. Based on previous years cutoffs, the SC category closing ranks for KGEC in later rounds were much higher than your ranks ,so this puts you in a safer position, if not in first round, you may get your preferred college in the following rounds.
Just make sure to place KGEC high in your preference list
Hello
With 8588 rank in WBJEE GMR and 1451 rank in TFW, it is highly unlikely for you to get any B.Tech branch in Jadavpur University even for the TFW quota as the cutoff rank of top branches has been around 1000 rank and the lower ones have been around 3000 rank and as your rank is a lot higher than that, it won't be possible.
Thank You!!!
Hii dream !
The official 2024 closing rank for Jadavpur University was :
Since the final 2025 data is not out the prediction of you getting a seat in various courses ( as per 2024 data is )
But don't get disheartened and as official cut off list is not out and we never know what can happen next. Wish you all the best.
With a WBJEE rank of around 59,000 in the General Merit Rank (GMR) and approximately 6,500 in the SC category, admission to top government engineering colleges in West Bengal for popular branches like Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is quite challenging. Typically, government colleges fill their CSE and ECE seats with candidates having ranks much better (lower) than 59,000 GMR, including reserved category cutoffs.
However, there are still some government and government-aided engineering colleges where candidates with SC ranks in the range of 6,000+ may have a chance depending on seat availability, branch preference, and counseling rounds. Admission chances improve if you are flexible with branch choice or consider less-demanded government colleges or newer campuses.
Some government engineering colleges in West Bengal where you can consider applying include:
West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) Affiliated Colleges:
Various colleges affiliated with WBUT accept WBJEE ranks across categories for branches including CSE and ECE. Checking round-by-round Cutoffs during counseling may help find places with available seats.
Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore:
Known for textile and other branches but may offer branches like ECE or allied streams with flexible cutoffs in reserved categories.
Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology, Kolkata:
Another government college with limited seats in popular branches but often less competitive than premier institutes.
Camellia Institute of Engineering & Technology:
While not fully government, it has government-aided status and can be considered for counseling under WBJEE.
Other Government-Aided Affiliates:
Colleges like Kalyani Government Engineering College, Netaji Subhas Engineering College, Jhargram Government Engineering College may open seats during later rounds or mop-up rounds for reserved categories.
It is strongly recommended to participate actively in all counseling rounds and consider options like lateral entry, less popular branches, or newer campuses. The cutoff ranks fluctuate yearly based on seat availability, number of applicants, and category-specific reservation policies.
In summary, with your WBJEE rank, chances at top government colleges for CSE/ECE are limited but not impossible at some government or aided colleges accepting SC candidates. Flexibility and active counseling participation are key to securing admission.
With a GMR rank of 59000 and SC rank of 6500 in WBJEE, chances for CSE or ECE in government colleges are very low. These branches usually close at much better ranks for SC category students. You may still get admission in other branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical in some government colleges. For CSE/ECE, you have better chances in private colleges under WBJEE counselling. It is advisable to fill all choices to keep options open.
Hey! With a WBJEE GMR of 33652 and being in the OBC-B category, getting a core branch like CSE/ECE in top government colleges is very tough. But still, you have chances in some government engineering colleges in the later rounds (especially 3rd or mop-up).
You can try for colleges like:
Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology (non-core branches)
Government College of Ceramic Technology
Some seats in Kalyani Government Engineering College (in lower demand branches)
Regional Engineering Colleges or other state-aided universities (but mostly in non-core departments).
My suggestion: Keep patience till the last rounds because sometimes seats do open up for OBC-B. Also, keep backup options in private colleges or through management quota if you want a specific branch.
Hello,
With a WBJEE rank of 28,393, chances for B.Tech ECE in good colleges are very low. Jadavpur University and top private colleges close at much lower ranks. Some lesser-known private colleges may still offer ECE at this rank, but options are limited.
You may also try for other branches where cut-offs are higher.
Hope it helps !
With a WBJEE 2025 rank of 28,393, it may be difficult to get admission in ECE at top government colleges, but you have chances in private colleges in West Bengal. Colleges like HITK, Techno India, RCCIIT, UEM, IEM (lower branches/management quota) might be possible depending on cut-offs and seat availability in later rounds. You should keep multiple options open and also check for spot counseling.
