Because the JEE Main exam is conducted in different sessions and shifts, the level of difficulty also varies, and to deal with this, authorities use the process of JEE normalization. NTA releases the normalised JEE Main 2026 scores to indicate the percentage of examinees whose scores are equal to or below the scores of the candidate who scored the highest in that particular session. The formula used for the calculation of NTA scores for JEE result 2026 is as follows:
Formula = (100 x number of candidates who appeared in the session with a raw score equal to or less than the candidate) / total number of candidates who appeared in that session
Aspirants may note that the normalized NTA score is not the same as that of the percentage of marks obtained in the JEE test.
The National Testing Agency calculates the scores of JEE Main 2026 for percentile for individual subjects separately (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) as well as in the combined format using the normalization formula as shown below.
Category | Details |
Total Percentile (T1P) | (100 x No. of candidates from the session with a raw score equal to or less than T1 score) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
Mathematics Percentile (M1P) | (100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than than M1 score in Mathematics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
Chemistry Percentile (C1P): | (100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than C1 score in Chemistry) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
Physics Percentile (P1P) | (100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score equal to or less than P1 score in Physics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |

Your class 12th passing year would be 2025, as your improvement exam marks have replaced your previous marks. You should enter 2025 as the passing year for JEE Mains 2026, as NTA considers the year in which you last appeared and passed all the subjects, even if you originally passed earlier.
Hope it helps!!!

Once it’s open, log in to the official site and correct your entry. If the correction window has already closed, you should immediately email or call NTA explaining that you entered your 10th registration number instead of the 12th. They often allow such corrections through official requests. Keep screenshots and proof of your emails for safety. Stay calm, this won’t affect your eligibility if corrected in time.
