JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2019 -The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2019 constitutes the reservation criteria for certain candidates. National Test Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body will decide the reservation criteria for JEE Main 2019. The candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories, female candidates and candidates belonging to Person with Disability (PwD) category are eligible for JEE Main Reservation 2019 and will be privileged with certain advantages in terms of seat allocation, qualifying exam scores, entrance exam scores and age limit over non-reserved category categories. The reservation criteria of JEE Main 2019 also include parameters related to home state and other state quota in terms of admissions offered by the state universities. This implies that in JEE Main, a candidate belonging to home state will get preference over other candidate in his or her home state university. It is important to note that candidates coming under JEE Main 2019 reservation criteria will have to produce necessary documents as proof of their reservation.

From 2019, National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting JEE Main twice a year in computer based mode. The first attempt of JEE Main 2019 will be held from January 6 to 20 in 8 different slots, whereas the second attempt will be held between April 6 to 20. The authorities have released the application form of JEE Main 2019 for the first attempt on September 1st, 2018. The Paper-I of JEE Main 2019 will be entirely Computer based whereas Paper-II will be Computer Based (Mathematics and Aptitude Test) and Pen and Paper Based (Drawing) both.

Salient features of JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2019:
The reservation criteria of JEE Main follows the reservation rules for allocation of seats that are fixed by the government of India.
It is important to note that benefits of reservation for admission to NITs/ IIITs and GFTIs will be given only to those classes/ castes/ tribes which will be in the respective central list published by the government of India.
The state engineering colleges accepting admission on JEE Main 2019 scores will apply the reservation rules of the state.
JEE Main 2019 Reservation Criteria for Premier Engineering Institutes
There is different reservation criteria for different participating institutes of JEE Main.The reservation criteria for all of them is mentioned below.
IITs –Indian Institutes of Technology or IITs offer admission for all categories on All India Quota basis.
NITs– National Institutes of Technology or NITs offer admission for 50% seats on Home State Quota basis and for remaining 50% seats on Other State Quota basis.
Home State Quota*– Candidates belonging to the particular state where an NIT is located come under home state quota.
Other State Quota– Candidates belonging to any state and applying for admission to NITs other than their home state come under other state quota.
* For states and union territories without an NIT, Home State quota will be considered in the NITs mentioned below.

Candidates who belong to other states and candidates who belong to Andhra Pradesh, both can apply for admission under this quota.
Andhra Pradesh Quota
Those candidates whose home state is Andhra Pradesh can apply under this quota.
Home State Quota
40% of those candidates will be considered whose home quota state is Goa and in case, there are vacant seats, 10% seats will be filled by candidates from Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep
Other States Quota
Candidates whose home state is not Goa, Daman &Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep can apply for admission, 2018
IIITs –Indian Institutes of Information Technology or IIITs offer admission on All India Quota basis.
GFTIs –Government Funded Technical Institutes or GFTIs offer admission on All India Quota basis except the following:
For Assam University, Silchar – The university offers admission to Home State Quota candidates – those whose home state is Assam, and All India Quota candidates – all candidates including home state candidates.
How to claim reservation for JEE Main 2019?
While filling the application form of JEE Main, candidates will have to specify their category in personal details.
Candidates will have to provide valid proof of their reservation like category certificate. These proofs have to be carried by the candidate during counselling procedure.
If a candidate does not provide the required documents, then his or her reservation will not be considered and he or she will be considered under unreserved category.
What are the documents required as proof for JEE Main Reservation?

PwD candidates need to have disability certificate.
