JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2018 – The eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2018 constitutes of reservation criteria for certain category candidates. JEE Main 2018 reservation criteria has been prescribed by CBSE, the exam conducting body, on the basis of which admissions will be conducted in the participating institutes. Salient features of JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2018 :
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) follows the reservation rules for allocation of seats that are fixed by the government of India.
- It is important to note that benefits of reservation for admission to NITs/ IIITs and GFTIs will be given only to those classes/ castes/ tribes which will be in the respective central list published by the Govt of India.
- The state engineering colleges accepting admission on JEE Main 2018 scores will apply the reservation rules of the state. Any letters or emails related to reservation criteria will not be entertained by JEE Main secretariat/ CBSE.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2018 for Premier Engineering Institutes
There is different reservation criteria for different participating institutes of JEE Main. The reservation criteria for all of them is mentioned below.
IITs – Indian Institutes of Technology or IITs offer admission for all categories on All India Quota basis.
NITs – National Institutes of Technology or NITs offer admission for 50% seats on Home State Quota basis and for remaining 50% seats on Other State Quota basis.
Home State Quota* – Candidates belonging to the particular state where an NIT is located come under home state quota.
Other State Quota – Candidates belonging to any state and applying for admission to NITs other than their home state come under other state quota.
* For states and union territories without an NIT, Home State quota will be considered in the NITs mentioned below.

Candidates whose home state is Telangana can apply for admission under this quota.
Other States Quota
Candidates who belong to other states and candidates who belong to Andhra Pradesh, both can apply for admission under this quota.
Andhra Pradesh Quota
Those candidates whose home state is Andhra Pradesh can apply under this quota.
Home State Quota
40% of those candidates will be considered whose home quota state is Goa and in case, there are vacant seats, 10% seats will be filled by candidates from Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep
Other States Quota
Candidates whose home state is not Goa, Daman &Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep can apply for admission.
IIITs – Indian Institutes of Information Technology or IIITs offer admission on All India Quota basis.
GFTIs – Government Funded Technical Institutes or GFTIs offer admission on All India Quota basis except the following :
For Assam University, Silchar – The university offers admission to Home State Quota candidates – those whose home state is Assam, and All India Quota candidates – all candidates including home state candidates.
How to claim reservation for JEE Main 2018?
While filling the application form of JEE Main, candidates will have to specify their category in personal details.
Candidates will have to provide valid proof of their reservation like category certificate. These proofs have to be carried by the candidate during counselling procedure.
If a candidate does not provide the required documents, then his or her reservation will not be considered and he or she will be considered under unreserved category.
What are the documents required as proof for JEE Main Reservation?
Category certificate duly issued by the competent authority in a prescribed format.
PwD candidates need to have disability certificate.
