JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2021 - Home State and Other States
JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2021 - The National Testing Agency has announced the reservation criteria for JEE Main 2021 in the official notification. It contains the category-wise percentage of reservation of seats for JEE Main 2021 and the conditions of eligibility that the candidates have to comply with. The JEE Main reservation criteria 2021 provide for candidates belonging to categories of EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and persons with disabilities. Candidates who are going to appear in the upcoming session of JEE Main should know how understanding the reservation norms is beneficial in terms of comparatively lower application fee, cutoff marks, and also the course/ admission fee payable at the time of admission in the respective JEE Main institute. There are institutes that follow the central JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria while there are others that follow the home state quota and other state quotas. Hence, candidates may refer to the article below which provides a solution to the confusion on JEE Main reservation criteria 2021.
JEE Main Reservation for institutes under Central government
General Economically Weaker Sections (GEN-EWS)
Scheduled Castes (SC)
Scheduled Tribes (ST)
Non Creamy Layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL)
Persons with Disabilities
5% in each category
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for OBC-NCL
There is a list of other backward classes (non-creamy layer) on the website of National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) called as Central list which has to be followed under JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria. Those candidates who fall under this list will be selecting the option of reserved category of OBC while filling the JEE Main application form. Other candidates who fall under OBC list as per the list of their respective states will have to choose the General category.
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) under JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2021
Candidates who are suffering from 40% or more disability (specified disability) as certified by the certifying authority can claim for benefits from JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria. Given below are the categories of specified disabilities to be considered under PwD category:
Blindness and low vision
Deaf and hard of hearing
Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness,
Other specified disabilities

Process to claim Reservation in JEE Main
In order to claim the benefits provided for candidates under reserved categories, candidates have to follow certain formalities. Given below are the steps to claim reservation in JEE Main:
The very first step that candidates have to take is filling the JEE Main application form which requires them to fill in various details including the category under which they fall. They are not required to provide the category proof at this stage. So, if a student misses on selecting the correct reserved category, the authorities do not accept further claims.
At the time of JEE Main counselling, candidates will be required to produce certain documents including that of caste or category certificate.
Those candidates who are unable to show the proof of having a claim under JEE Main reservation criteria will be taken as a candidate under unreserved or general category.
Documents Required under JEE Main 2021
Just a statement or mere clicking on the reserved category while applying shall not be enough and candidates will be required to provide certain proofs as mentioned below for a claim as per reservation criteria of JEE Main 2021:
Category certificate issued in the prescribed format by the competent authority
Caste or Tribe certificates in case of SC/ ST
Disability certificate issued by the competent authority in case of Persons with disability
JEE Main Reservation Criteria in Institutes of National Importance
There are various institutes that take up admissions into engineering courses through JEE Main, and they have their own reservation criteria. Talking about the Institutes of national importance, given below are the JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria for such institutes:
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) - All the Indian Institutes of Technology are under the central government and thus, they follow the All India Quota while offering admissions into engineering courses.
Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) - Admissions into IITs are based on All India Quota as well as Home State and Other State Quotas.
Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) - As per JEE Main reservation criteria in GFTIs, admissions are made on All India Quota basis except for Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and IIEST Shibpur wherein home state quota and other state quota is applicable, and Assam University, Silchar where home state quota is applicable for candidates belonging to Assam state and others are considered on All India basis.
National Institutes of Technology (NITs) - Unlike the IITs, the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) offer engineering admissions as per State Quota and Other State Quota basis.
JEE Main 2021 Reservation Criteria in NITs
According to JEE Main reservation criteria in the NITs, 50% seats stand reserved under home state quota for eligible candidates, while the rest of 50% are left for candidates of other states. Herein, the ‘Home State Quota’ stands for reservation for candidates belonging to the state where the particular NIT in question is located, while the ‘Other State Quota’ reflects for the candidates under reserved categories and belonging to the state other than the one in which that NIT is located.
It may be noted that the National Institutes of Technology are not there for all the states and Union Territories in India, thus the table below contains the home state quota to be considered in such cases:
UTs and Home State Quota in NITs
It may be noted that the above criteria applies for all the NITs except for Warangal and Goa. For these NITs, the table below reflects the JEE Main 2021 reservation criteria followed:
JEE Main reservation criteria for NIT Warangal and Goa
Name of the NIT
Home State Quota
Candidates belonging to Telangana claim reservation under this quota
Other States Quota
Candidates belonging to other states and those belonging to Andhra Pradesh, both can apply for admission under this quota
Andhra Pradesh Quota
Candidates belonging to the state of Andhra Pradesh can apply for admissions under this quota.
Home State Quota
Candidates belonging to Goa have 40% reservation of seats. In case of further vacancy of seats, 10% seats are filled by candidates from Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep
Other States Quota
Candidates of Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep can apply for admission

Questions related to JEE Main
Hello... I am currently studying grade 11th... I have few questions... please clarify my doubts What exam is recommended either jee main or jee advanced...and what is the difference between them... How can I start to prepare for it in grade 11th... What books should I need to refer... Thank you...
I hope you are doing good . As per your query, I would like to tell you that for getting admissions in NITs you have to give jee main exam and you jee main rank should be 10000 for getting into good nits. For getting admissions into IITS ,after appearing in jee mains you have to give jee advance and combined score will be considering for cut off . Start preparing a proper road map as you have enough time, refer books like RD sharma , Prdaeep for chemistry, SL arora for physics and solve exemploary sections of these books
Hope you found this answer helpful. Good luck for your future

Nest or Jee mains Who is more difficult
The difficulty of the question paper varies from year to year. However as per the past year trends JEE main is tougher however the competition for NEET is quite high in India and there is a lot of cravings for Government seats Colleges. However the syllabus except biology in NEET remains almost same as that of JEE Main.
Hope it helps!!
sir what is the time for JEE registration for 12th appearing
Currently, it is not possible to determine the exact time of registration for JEE Mains. As you must be aware that this time JEE Mains was to be held in four different sessions from February to May. Both February and March session are completed while April and May sessions are postponed. Since, registration for April session completed, thus you cannot apply for that. However, you will be able to apply for May session whenever, the application window will be active for that. That will most probably available after the April session will be completed. Thus, it is difficult to predict the exact date.
