Top six engineering colleges of Andhra Pradesh together achieved a placement rate of just 66.7 per cent for the BTech batch that was enrolled from 2017 to 2021, a Careers360 analysis has found.
Ranked by the education ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2022), participating institutions submitted data on student intake, actual enrollment, graduating students, and those placed. For the latest 2022 rankings NIRF considered data from the 2021 round of final placements for the four-year BTech batch.
The top engineering college in AP was ranked 44th on the NIRF 2022 rankings for engineering. These were the six AP colleges to be ranked among the top 200 in India by the NIRF:

These 10 colleges together had around 89.6 per cent of their enrolled students graduating in 2021. However, the placement rate – calculated with the number of students graduating in 2020-21 as base – was just 66.7 per cent. In comparison, Tamil Nadu’s top engineering colleges placed 75 per cent; Karnataka’s was 71.4 per cent; Uttar Pradesh stood at 70.5 per cent; Maharashtra’s was 67 per cent and Telangana placed 64.4 per cent of their graduating students. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh each had more than 10 institutes featured in NIRF 2022.

Admission to most top engineering colleges in AP is through the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, or AP EAMCET. While KL College of Engineering also conducts its own Engineering entrance exam – KLUEE – as does Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research, they also accept AP EAMCET and JEE Main scores for admission to BTech programmes. Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati admission takes place through JEE Advanced.
