IITs vs BITS - When deciding on a college to pursue higher education in India, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), remain the two most prominent & preferred institutions. They are both renowned for their academic excellence and exceptional alumni.
Both IITs and BITs are premier institutions and are known worldwide for their high standards of education, both of these are still different institutes with differences in aspects such as admission process, fees, etc. While both of them offer a variety of courses such as Btech, Mtech, MSC & PhD programs, they each stand out in their unique way. The placement records of both institutions are outstanding. Graduates from IITs and BITs are offered jobs in MNCs such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, TCS, Infosys, IBM and many more.
The differences between IITs vs BITS can be determined using the comparison table below.
IITs | BITS |
Campus: This is a government-funded university with a total of 23 campuses across the country. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country & was established in the year 1951. | This is a private institution that only has 5 campuses in total, out of which 4 are in India & one is in Dubai, UAE. Course Focus: Along with Undergraduate courses, there is also a strong focus on postgraduate courses & government-funded research opportunities. | Focus is higher on undergraduate courses, especially Btech courses. |
System of study: Because the IITs have been established earlier, their curriculum and the pattern of study are more traditional. The courses IITs offer place more focus on research and the concepts of study required for a more technical study. | Their system of study is more holistic. They emphasise a more well-rounded growth of the student, BITS also boasts of a zero-attendance policy. where they require no minimum attendance to be able to attend exams. |
As they are government-funded institutes, fees are lower ranging from 2-3 lakhs | The fee range is higher i.e 4 to 5 lakhs per annum as it is a private institute |
While both IITs and BITS have a very similar curriculum and mode of study, the final decision of the candidate concerning the question IITS vs BITS should be based on careful evaluation of the syllabus and study pattern of the respective institutes.
