Courses in IITs: IITs or Indian Institute of Technology offer various courses at Undergraduate(UG), Postgraduate (PG), and Doctoral level in Science and Engineering & Technology. Candidates can pursue various BTech courses with specialisations in Civil, Computer Science & Technology, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and more. Eligibility Criteria for IITs Courses
Various courses and specialisations have different eligibility criteria that applicants have to meet. However, the general eligibility criteria for B.Tech and M.Tech courses at IITs have been mentioned below
B.Tech and Dual Degree Programs:
- A candidate needs to acquire the minimum qualifying marks in the exam undertaken by them (Class 12/ A Level/any equivalent)
- It is necessary to go through the JEE Main, JEE Advanced and JoSAA Counselling for the admission process.

IIT Courses for Admission Process
Once the aspirants have cleared the requisite entrance examinations, there are several steps that follow under the IIT Admissions process:
- Aspirants are required to clear the JEE Main as well as the JEE Advanced exams in order to gain admission to B.Tech and B.Arch courses.
- The counselling for B.E/B.Tech and B.Arch admissions is handled by JoSAA- Joint Seat Allocation Authority and it usually takes place from the first week of June every year.
- During the course of the counselling proceedings, cut-offs are declared in every round based on particular categories and branches so that the individuals can anticipate their chances of admission.
- In the case of M.Tech programmes, aspirants have to clear the GATE exam followed by counselling of GATE COAP held in the third week of March every year.The IITs announce round-wise and category-wise cut-off marks for Bachelor of Technology and Dual Degree courses during JoSAA counselling.
*Admission to the M.Tech programmes is based on the GATE score.
The candidates will need to register for the counselling, fill the application form and upload documents along with the admission fee paid. Subsequently to applying the candidates over the official IIT’s website, applicants need to also apply on GATE COAP portal.
