    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is GATE subject wise weightage?
    A:

GATE subject wise weightage refers to the approximate distribution of marks across different subjects or topics in a GATE paper. It is generally prepared by analysing previous years' question papers and helps candidates identify high-weightage areas for effective preparation.

Q: Is the GATE subject wise weightage officially released?
    A:

No, the conducting IIT does not officially release subject-wise or chapter-wise weightage for GATE. The weightage provided in preparation resources is based on the analysis of previous years' question papers and exam trends.

Q: How can GATE subject wise weightage help in preparation?
    A:

GATE subject wise weightage helps candidates understand which subjects have consistently contributed more marks in previous years. This allows aspirants to prioritise important topics while ensuring that the complete syllabus is covered.

Q: Does the GATE subject wise weightage change every year?
    A:

Yes, the exact weightage may vary slightly from year to year depending on the question paper. However, the overall importance of core subjects generally remains consistent over multiple exam cycles.

Q: Should I prepare only high-weightage subjects for GATE 2027?
    A:

No. While high-weightage subjects should be given priority, candidates should not ignore low-weightage topics. GATE tests conceptual understanding across the entire syllabus, so balanced preparation is recommended.

Q: Are Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude important for all GATE papers?
    A:

Yes, Engineering Mathematics (where applicable) and General Aptitude are important sections in most GATE papers. General Aptitude carries 15 marks, while the weightage of Engineering Mathematics varies depending on the discipline.

Q: How is the GATE subject wise weightage prepared?
    A:

The subject wise weightage is prepared by analysing previous years' GATE question papers and identifying the average marks allotted to different subjects and topics over multiple years.

Q: Can I score well in GATE by following the subject wise weightage?
    A:

Subject wise weightage is a useful guide for planning preparation, but success in GATE depends on conceptual understanding, regular practice, revision, and solving previous years' question papers along with mock tests.

    Hey there,

The official GATE 2027 syllabus has not been released yet. However, the Heat Transfer syllabus is expected to remain similar to previous years. It generally includes:

    • Modes of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation)
    • One-dimensional steady and unsteady heat conduction
    • Thermal resistance and electrical analogy
    • Heat transfer through fins

    Hello,

With a GATE score of around 400, admission to M.Tech (IT) depends on your qualifying paper, category, institute, and the cutoff of the participating colleges.

You may have chances in some NITs, IIITs, state universities, and other institutes, while admission to top IITs may be more competitive.

    Please mention

    Hello Dear Student,

Yes, B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence students can absolutely appear for the GATE exam after completing their degree. Graduates with a regular 3-year or 4-year B.Sc. are eligible, and you can specifically apply for the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) paper, making it highly relevant to your background.
