85 Percentile in JEE Mains 2026: The marks of 85 percentile in JEE Main 2026 are considered to be quite good scores. However, it may not necessarily ensure that the student is admitted to the most prestigious Institutes such as IITs and NITs. But even then, candidates who are of 85 percentile marks are offered various options such as admission to various government-run engineering colleges and private universities, and lower NITs & IIITs. The percentile score is translated into a rank which changes with each year depending on the number of candidates and the level of difficulty of the JEE Main exam. The rank of a candidate with a 85 percentile would probably be between 102,422- 135,695 that may enable him to get admission to any range of institutions, especially those that have liberal cutoffs or in less sought after engineering courses.
As per the notification, the NTA will close the JEE Mains Correction Window 2026 Session 2 on February 28, and the link will be active till 11:50 PM.

Besides NITs and IIITs, other Indian private universities like VIT, BITS and Manipal might also get an 85 percentile score. Most of these institutes provide elastic admissions such as direct admissions under management quota, separate exams, or counseling sessions. It is necessary to mention that the applicants of the 85 percentile need to make a shift towards selecting the correct branch and the institution depending on their preferences and career aspirations. One should also monitor the counseling process to enhance their likelihood of getting to appropriate college.
