Engineering Colleges in Chandigarh: Eligibility Criteria

Every student who aspires to be an engineer and act as the foundation for the country’s infrastructural and technological needs is required to start from the elementary level of qualifying the board exams conducted by the respective state boards of education or the central board of secondary education. 

  1. The candidates should have passed their 10+2 exams with Science as their stream. Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics should be the mandatory subjects along with English as the mandatory language subject in the curriculum. 

  2. Every candidate must have secured at least 50% in their board examinations. With minimum passing percentage in all subjects.

  3. The candidate must have qualified the entrance examinations conducted at either state or the national level. The state-level exams are conducted as a common entrance test by the respective boards of education and the national level examination is the Joint Entrance Examination or the AIEEE conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Engineering Colleges in Chandigarh: Entrance Exams

To pursue engineering in Chandigarh the candidate should have cleared the exams with the required marks in the JEE main exam conducted by NTA every year. Some colleges offer admissions based on the scores of NATA as well. 

The Joint Entrance exam is conducted by the NTA twice every year once in January and the second time in April. With there being two levels of the exam, which are JEE Mains and JEE Advanced level exams. The maximum marks for which the exam is conducted are 400. 

Every correct answer carries 4 plus marks and a wrong attempt reduced 1 mark from the total. The marking scheme for JEE has been revised from the year 2021 according to the guidelines of the NTA.
