JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 - IIT Kanpur has revised the JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. According to the revised notification, the number of attempts for JEE advanced 2025 has been reduced to two times in two consecutive years. Earlier, candidates were allowed three attempts in three consecutive years. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling out the JEE Advanced 2025 application form. The eligibility criteria will include performance in JEE Mains, Age Limit, Number of Attempts, earlier admission at IITs and more. Only eligible candidates will be permitted to appear for the IIT JEE Advanced exam. The authority will conduct the JEE Advanced 2025 exam in May 2025.

Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper (Paper I) of JEE Main 2025 to be eligible. The category-wise percentage allocation for shortlisting candidates is as follows: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% for OPEN category. A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
For admissions into IITs, the candidates will be required to meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2025. Moreover, the aspirants can also check the JEE advanced eligibility marks to know how many marks they should obtain in the class 12 exam.

Candidates who successfully registered for JEE Advanced 2024 but were absent in both the papers, i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2, were eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2024 and do not need to fulfill eligibility criteria 1 to 4 mentioned above. However, they must successfully register for the JEE Advanced in the online registration portal and pay the registration fee.
Candidates who were previously admitted to an IIT through JoSAA 2024 are not eligible for JEE Advanced, irrespective of whether they continued in the programme or not. Also, those candidates who accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past will not be termed eligible for admission. Along with the above-mentioned eligibility criteria, those candidates whose admissions to IITs was cancelled after joining will also not be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 as per the condition.
However, candidates who were admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 will be able to appear for JEE Advanced 2025. Those candidates who had paid the seat acceptance fee in JoSAA 2024 will also be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 if they meet the following conditions:
If the candidates did not report at any reporting centres OR
Withdrew before the last round of seat allotment OR
Had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the final round of seat allotment.
The authority will announce JEE Advanced 2025 stats on the official website. The stats will contain the details regarding the number of students who appeared, and how many students qualify for JEE Advanced.
