GATE Cutoff 2026 - IIT Guwahati is responsible to provide the GATE 2026 cutoff on its official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The authority will upload the GATE cutoff 2026 for all 30 GATE papers online. It will vary according to the exam difficulty and the category of the candidate. It will be released separately for General, OBC-NCL/EWS and SC/ST/PWD. For Computer Science (CS), the expected cutoff for the General category is likely to be between 30 and 34 marks, while for OBC-NCL/EWS candidates, it is expected to range from 27 to 31 marks. For SC/ST candidates, the cutoff is anticipated to be between 20 and 23 marks. Note that the GATE 2026 cutoff will be out of 100 marks. Candidates will be able to check the minimum qualifying marks, cutoff, after the release of the GATE 2026 result on March 19, 2026. Those who score above the minimum required marks will clear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. They will become eligible for admission through the GATE 2026 exam.

Depending on the exam difficulty level and number of exam takers, the cutoff for GATE 2026 will vary. For papers that are usually high in demand, the cutoff will be higher, whereas for the lower demand papers, the cutoff will be lower. The GATE 2026 cutoffs will also depend on the reservation category of the candidate. All qualified candidates will have to participate in the counselling process for admission to IITs, NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs. The GATE cutoff for admission will be released after each round of the COAP counselling and CCMT counselling.
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati will release the GATE 2026 cutoffs on their official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. No login credentials will be required to check the cutoff. Note that the cutoff of GATE 2026 is of a qualifying nature only. It does not ensure admission. For that, students need to participate in the counselling process. The minimum rank that candidates need to gain for admission into individal institutes is called the admission cutoff. Candidates will be able to check the paper-wise GATE 2026 here. Moreover, the expected GATE cutoff 2026 will be provided after the conclusion of the exams.
The expected GATE Cutoff for 2026 is based on previous years' trends. The GATE expected cutoffs are indicative and must not be considered as final. GATE cutoff and admission cutoff vary from each other. Candidates with a higher GATE cutoff can participate in the counselling process for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Below is the GATE expected cutoff 2026 paper-wise.

As per the information released in the GATE information brochure, the GATE 2026 cutoff for OBC, SC and ST will be calculated using the formula given below. It depends on the GATE cutoff for general.
GATE cutoff for GENERAL category = max(25, min(40, x+ y))
Here the x is the mean and y is the standard deviation of marks of all the candidates who appeared for the test paper
Here, we have compiled the last year's GATE cutoffs for 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015. Candidates can refer to the following tables to know the GATE previous years' cutoff trends. It will help them understand how the cutoff has changed over the years and what the expected cutoff marks are for GATE 2026. Moreover, candidates can check GATE cutoff marks for Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil, and more. Below are the GATE closing and opening ranks for IITs and NITs.

Candidates can check the cutoff for GATE 2026 on this page. GATE cutoff 2026 will be available for EC, CS, MA, DA, PH, CH, MN and all other papers. It is important to note that two types of cutoffs will be released for the GATE exam: the qualifying GATE 2026 cutoff and the admission cutoff for GATE 2026. The differences between the qualifying and admission cutoff marks of GATE 2026 are specified below.
Students appearing in GATE must know the difference between the GATE qualifying cutoff 2026 and the GATE 2026 admission cutoff. GATE qualifying marks are the minimum cutoff to qualify for the entrance test to be eligible for the admission process. The qualifying marks of GATE 2026 will vary for each category. On the other hand, the GATE admission cutoff will be released by COAP and CCMT. Candidates who rank in GATE more than the admission cutoff will be offered admission.
GATE cutoff marks for IIT and NIT will be released in the form of opening and closing ranks. After the declaration of GATE results, IITs and NITs will start the MTech admission process separately. After the application and interview, the institutes will release the GATE opening and closing ranks.
