About: Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous) was established in 2000. The institution is recognised under Section 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is an Autonomous Institution since 2016, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai with permanent affiliation for most of the programmes, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Hindusthan College of Engineering is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) ‘A++’ Grade with a CGPA of 3.69 out of 4 in Cycle 2. HICET Coimbatore courses are offered at UG and PG levels across different streams including engineering, management and business administration, computer application and IT.
Q. Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched?
Ans: I am Priyadharshini. B completed my bachelor’s degree and master's degree in Biotechnology at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science. Currently, I’m working as a Virtual radiology assistant at Connected Value Health Solutions Private Limited, Coimbatore. I feel very much satisfied at the professional level. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology I worked as AR Caller. After completing my master's degree in Biotechnology, I switched my career to one that was related to my field of study and also allowed me to enhance my skills and improve professionally.

Q. Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?
Ans: Currently I am working as a Virtual Radiology Assistant which is very interesting and also related to my field helping Radiology doctors in a virtual environment. It is a fascinating experience and I am passionate about my current job.
Q. Is the Industry work different from what you learnt at HICET Coimbatore?
Ans: Yes, the current industry I am working in is related to the field of study I studied in college.

Q. How do you think your time in HICET has added value to your life, both professional and personal?
Ans: College is a time where relationships are built, personal growth is cultivated, and career development is pursued. The list goes on! Here are some of the things I have done during my college days such as participating in various competitions and engaging in social activities and much more in practical sessions rather than theory classes. Both personally and professionally, I can improve thanks to those things.
Q. What was your initial thought process when you joined the HICET Coimbatore?
Ans: College marks a new beginning for any student's life. Following the highly structured environment of the school and college provides us with a sense of responsibility. After a lot of hustles, bustle and formalities and sincere hard efforts on the very first day of college, I was admitted. As any other newbie, I was super excited about my first day of college. I was feeling nervous, happy, and excited at the same time.

Q. You must have spent a memorable time at HICET Coimbatore. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.
Ans: College life was a remarkable experience, and it was the chance we earned effectively. After graduation, we miss the great memories. College life was a joyful experience for us. There was a lot of fun and training that boosted our moral standards of living. Moreover, I used to have a strong resentment towards those days when we spent a significant amount of time in labs and also miss the scolding and teachings of my beloved professors are still a source of sadness to me. I had a great experience with my professors for my class. They were very experienced, knowledgeable, supportive, and understood each student as an individual. And hardly missing those college functions that we used to enjoy.
Q. Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do and your routine life.
Ans: My routine days are filled with classes, studying, practical sessions in labs, projects attending and organising a workshop, completing my internships, spending time with friends, chatting and moving in around the college campus, participating in extracurricular activities, and more. Attending lectures, participating in discussions, taking and sharing notes, and preparing for semesters are the main tasks in my life.

Q. Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?
Ans: Apart from academics, participating in various social activities along with my college mates and professors helped me to meet new people, develop new skills, and enhance my college experience. In addition, I used to enjoy participating in intercollege festivals and competitions.
Q. How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?
Ans: I was regularly notified by my professors of the current industrial requirements and through continuous learning and professional development. College used to conduct and make us participate in various workshops, webinars, and conferences and took us to various industrial visits that were related to my field of expertise. Also, my professors helped me to Engage in online courses and certifications, keeping my skills sharp and relevant.

Q. You are a proud alumnus of HICET Coimbatore. What is the best part of HICET from a student’s perspective?
Ans: I am a proud alumnus of HICET and the best part of my college is the days I have spent with my friends and with my professors. The greatest thing about college is frequently the combination of academic growth, personal development, social connections, and opportunities for experience that were provided by my college. The green campus was the highlight, as it soothes my mind and inspires positive thoughts.
Q. What is your suggestion for the Biotechnology aspirants?
Ans: My suggestion to students is to take on leadership roles, which will aid in their self-esteem and confidence building. And be clear about what you want and follow your passion. Early participation in internships and research can help you determine your area of interest.

For lateral entry into B.Tech Chemical Engineering at HiCET , you need a Diploma in Chemical Engineering with at least 45-50% marks . Admission is through TNEA Lateral Entry or direct merit-based selection . Apply via the HiCET website , submit required documents, and attend counseling if applicable.
