TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2018 – Anna University has prescribed the TNEA 2018 eligibility criteria for all the candidates applying for admission to B.Tech programmes offered by Tamil Nadu colleges. TNEA eligibility criteria 2018 include certain parameters like educational qualification, nativity and age etc. on the basis of which candidates are considered for admission process and are further be able to participate in counselling and seat allotment procedure. It is important for candidates to fulfil the eligibility criteria of TNEA 2018 otherwise their application form will not be taken into consideration and eventually they will be eliminated from the admission process. Candidates can check the detailed TNEA 2018 eligibility criteria from this page and then apply for admission. The registration for TNEA 2018 had started from May 3, 2018 and the eligible candidates could fill the application form of TNEA 2018 till June 2. 

Latest: The registration of TNEA 2018 for other state quota seats starts on June 20. 

 

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2018

On the basis of nativity:

  • Candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standard in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply for TNEA 2018. Their nativity certificate will not be required.

  • Candidates who are Tamil Nadu natives but have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standard or their equivalent examination from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply. They will have to enclose a copy of their nativity certificate only in electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate.

  • Candidates whose parents are central government employees are also eligible to apply for admission, irrespective of their nativity, provided if their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years at the time of application submission. The same has to be supported by enclosing a certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian, to that effect.

  • Candidates whose parents are employees in public sector or government recognised institutions at the time of application submission in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years can also apply for admission, irrespective of their domicile. In this case, a certificate from the employer has to be enclosed along with the application form stating that the person is a permanent employee of the form or institution along with evidence like income tax return, PF slips etc and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years.

  • Candidates whose parents are employees of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are also eligible to apply.

  • Candidates from outside Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply for TNEA, provided they have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standard in Tamil Nadu. They do not have to disclose their nativity certificate.

  • Candidates who have studied in Tamil Nadu and are Srilankan Tamil refugee can apply for admission and they will be considered under open competition. They will have to produce their identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar. For all those who have not registered in the refugee camp will have to submit a copy of their passport, visa and letter registered with police station.

On the basis of educational qualification:

  • Candidates need to have passed in the HSC (academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Physics,  Chemistry and Mathematics put together as given in the table below:

  • Candidates need to pass in any one of the HSC (vocational subject) as given in the table below with any onThis article has been written on previous year's information. It will be updated as soon as new information comes in.e of theEngineering related subjects – Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics with a minimum average percentage combined.

  • Candidates (both Tamil and outside) must note that improvement marks obtained from 2007 will not be considered.

On the basis of branch:

 

For Marine engineering branch, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subject with an average of not less than 60 % in PCM combined. A minimum 50 % in English either in 10th or 12th standard is required for all the candidates.

 

Candidates need to have:

  • Maximum age limit of 25 years

  • Minimum height 157 cm

  • Minimum weight 48 kg

  • Normal color vision

Candidates need to ensure that they are medically fit for the course. They will be admitted only on production of physical fitness certificate obtained from the Medical Officer authorised by the Director General of Shipping, failing which they will lose the admission.

 

For female candidates:

 

All the female candidates applying for Mining engineering must know the following eligibility criteria before filling the application form of TNEA 2018:

  • No female will be a part of a mine which is below ground

  • No female will be allowed to work in any mine above ground except between the hours of 6 am and 7 pm.

  • No adolescent or female must descent or ascend a shaft in a cage or other means of conveyance unless accompanied by one or more adult males.

  • They need to fulfil other prescribed eligibility criteria.
