If you clear the JEE Main cutoff, you'll be eligible to apply for admission to various institutions, including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. However, admission to IISc Bangalore is not solely based on JEE Main scores.
IISc Bangalore has its own admission process, which includes:
1. *JEE Main/Advanced*: You need to qualify in JEE Main/Advanced to be eligible for admission.
2. *JEE Advanced*: If you're applying for the Bachelor of Science (Research) program, you need to qualify in JEE Advanced.
3. *KVPY*: If you're applying for the Bachelor of Science (Research) program, you can also qualify through the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam.
4. *NEET*: If you're applying for the Bachelor of Science (Research) program in biological sciences, you need to qualify in NEET.
After qualifying in one of these exams, you'll need to apply for admission to IISc Bangalore through their online portal.
Regarding counseling, IISc Bangalore doesn't conduct a traditional counseling process. Instead, they use a merit-based admission process, where selected students are offered admission based on their performance in the qualifying exam.
There's no interview process for admission to IISc Bangalore's undergraduate programs. Your admission will be based solely on your performance in the qualifying exam.
So, you don't need to worry about an interview!
Hello
To get admission to IISc Bangalore through JEE Mains , both percentile and rank matter.
1. Cutoff Percentile : IISc Bangalore requires a 99.5+ percentile for General category students and for OBC candidates, the cutoff is slightly lower but still around 99.3 - 99.4 percentile based on previous trends.
2. Rank Matters : Your All India Rank (AIR) is crucial because IISc considers ranks while shortlisting candidates. Generally, you need a rank within the top 500-600 for a strong chance, though OBC candidates may get in with a slightly lower rank (around 800-1000).
Can You Get Admission at 99 Percentile?
At 99 percentile , your rank will likely be around 10,000 - 12,000, which is too high for IISc.
You need at least 99.5+ percentile (AIR under 1000-1500 for OBC) for a realistic chance.
Hello Siddhi,
Admission to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, for the Bachelor of Science (Research) program primarily depends on your performance in various national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, KVPY, and NEET-UG. For the BS program, IISc accepts JEE Main scores, making it a crucial exam for students applying through this route.
If you perform well in JEE Main but not in JEE Advanced, it won’t necessarily affect your chances of getting into IISc for the BS (Research) program, as JEE Advanced scores are not required for this specific course. IISc’s admission criteria for the BS program focus on JEE Main performance, and many students have successfully gained admission based on their JEE Main ranks. However, for other courses and programs, JEE Advanced may be a requirement, and a lower score in JEE Advanced could impact your eligibility for those programs.
It’s important to keep in mind that IISc establishes specific cutoff ranks for each entrance exam, and these cutoffs change every year based on the number of applicants and available seats. For instance, last year’s cutoff ranks for JEE Main ranged from 241 to 353 for the BS (Research) program. This range can provide insight into the competition, and aiming for a high score in JEE Main is essential for securing admission.
In summary, while achieving a good score in JEE Main is enough to gain admission to the BS (Research) program at IISc, a lower score in JEE Advanced will not necessarily affect your admission, provided you excel in JEE Main. However, doing well in JEE Main will enhance your chances of obtaining a favourable rank and securing a place in this esteemed institution.
Hello,
For the BS program at IISc Bangalore, admission is based on JEE Mains scores, but there is an interview process for the final selection . Here's the process:
