Hello
Apply as OBC for GATE 2026 :
OBC Creamy Layer : If your family's annual income exceeds Rs 8 lakh , you are considered part of the creamy layer and are not eligible for OBC reservation benefits.
Non-Creamy Layer : If your family's income is below Rs 8 lakh , you qualify as non-creamy layer OBC and are eligible for reservation benefits.
If your father's income remains above Rs 8 lakh, you still fall under the creamy layer and cannot claim OBC benefits for GATE 2026.
However, if the income drops below Rs 8 lakh in the future, and you meet other eligibility criteria , you can submit as OBC (non-creamy layer) in subsequent years with the proper certificate.
hope this helps you .

Predicting the exact GATE 2025 EE cut-off is difficult, but based on trends, experts anticipate it to be between 28-32 for the general category. OBC-NCL/EWS might see 24-27, and SC/ST/PwD around 20-23. These are estimates, and the actual cut-off depends on exam difficulty, test-takers, performance, and seat availability. Focus on scoring well above these predictions for better admission chances. Check the IIT Roorkee website and individual institute websites for official cut-offs after the exam.
Yes, a B.Sc student with a 3-year program can potentially get an M.Tech course without doing an M.Sc or other PG degree by qualifying the GATE exam, which allows admission to M.Tech programs based on their bachelor's degree in science, provided they meet the specific eligibility criteria of the chosen M.Tech program and institution.
According to recent data, the GATE Metallurgical Engineering (MT) cutoff for PSUs and IITs in the SC category is around 27.3 marks which is considered the qualifying mark for the SC/ST/PWD category; this means that a candidate from the SC category needs to score at least 27.3 marks to be considered for admission to IITs or PSU recruitment through GATE MT.
