Questions related to JEE Main

Hello Ashi,

No, you cannot get admission to the B.Tech program at Jiwaji University, Gwalior, without a valid JEE Main score. admissions are conducted through the Directorate of Technical Education(DTE), Bhopal, based on JEE Main performance. alternative pathways like CUET or merit-based admissions are not applicable for B.Tech courses at this university.

As you need a separate counselor for jee mains counselling, so to get a dedicated counselor for JEE Main counselling, you have two main options: professional counseling services or individual expert counselors.

So you can get it by visiting on jee mains site, and then choosing your counselor and paying registration package.

For individual counselors you can refer to various IITian , Youtubers by requesting a session from them .

With a JEE Mains rank of 821087, securing admission in BTech AI and Data Science at GJU may be challenging, as the cutoffs tend to be competitive. It would be advisable to check the specific cutoff ranks for the program and consider alternative options.

Based on previous years' data, the JEE Main cutoff ranks for admission to B.Tech programs at BIT Mesra and BITS Pilani are as follows:

BIT Mesra (Ranchi Campus)

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) : Closing rank around 20,000–25,000

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) : Closing rank around 25,000–30,000

  • Mechanical Engineering : Closing rank around 30,000–35,000

  • Civil Engineering : Closing rank around 35,000–40,000

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) : Closing rank around 40,000–45,000

BITS Pilani

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) : Closing rank around 5,000–7,000

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) : Closing rank around 7,000–10,000

  • Mechanical Engineering : Closing rank around 10,000–12,000

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) : Closing rank around 12,000–15,000

  • Civil Engineering : Closing rank around 15,000–18,000

Note : These are approximate closing ranks based on past trends and may vary each year depending on factors like the number of applicants, seat availability, and reservation policies. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it's recommended to refer to the official admission portals of BIT Mesra (https://www.bitmesra.ac.in/) and (https://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/) BITS Pilani.

With a JEE Main rank of 224,000 , your chances of securing admission into top National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or IITs are slim. However, you still have opportunities to get into reputable private engineering colleges or Government Engineering Colleges (through state counseling) depending on your preferences and the branch you choose.

Possible Engineering Colleges You Can Consider:

1. Private Engineering Colleges:

These colleges may have a slightly higher cutoff, but with your JEE score, you have a good chance to get admission, especially in branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or new branches.

  • VIT University (VIT Vellore) :

    1. Courses Offered : B.Tech in various streams (Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.)

    2. Admission Process : VIT conducts its own exam (VITEEE), but they also accept JEE scores for some courses.

    3. Expected Cutoff : For VIT Vellore , your rank may not be competitive for CSE or IT, but you might get admission in other branches.

  • Shiv Nadar University (Greater Noida) :

    1. Courses Offered : B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Civil, etc.

    2. Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores along with an internal exam.

    3. Expected Cutoff : A rank of 224,000 may get you admission into some branches, except for the highly competitive ones like CSE.

  • SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) :

    1. Courses Offered : B.Tech in multiple streams like CSE, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.

    2. Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores and also conducts SRMJEEE.

    3. Expected Cutoff : SRM has various campuses, and with your rank, you could likely secure admission to a branch other than the most popular ones like CSE.

  • Amity University (Noida, Lucknow, Jaipur) :

    1. Courses Offered : B.Tech in several disciplines like Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.

    2. Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores for admission into various branches.

    3. Expected Cutoff : You have a fair chance to secure admission into many branches at Amity .

  • UPES Dehradun :

    1. Courses Offered : B.Tech in various streams such as CSE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum Engineering, etc.

    2. Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores or their own UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPESEAT) .

    3. Expected Cutoff : Your rank should be eligible for admission in certain branches like Mechanical , Civil , and Electrical .

2. Government Engineering Colleges (Through State Counseling or Other Routes):

You may have a better chance of securing admission in state-level government colleges through the state counseling process , especially if you apply to colleges within your home state.

  • State Engineering Colleges (Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, etc.) :

Your rank could be eligible for some of the Government-funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) or State Government Engineering Colleges . Many state governments conduct their own entrance exams (such as MHT CET for Maharashtra or UPCET for Uttar Pradesh) for admission to government engineering colleges.

3. State-level Private Engineering Colleges (Via State Counseling):

Many private engineering colleges in states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana accept JEE Main scores along with their respective state-level counseling processes.

  • Colleges under MHT CET (Maharashtra) :

    1. MIT Pune, Bharati Vidyapeeth, PICT – You may get admission to some of the branches at these colleges.

    2. Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering (Pune) : For students with a higher JEE score, you may still get a chance in branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Colleges under UPCET (Uttar Pradesh) :

    1. MMMUT (Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology) , KNIT Sultanpur , HBTU Kanpur , and others may have seats for your rank, especially in branches other than CSE.

4. Consider Other Options:

  • Lateral Entry : Since you have a diploma, if you're looking for lateral entry , you may consider applying to colleges that accept lateral entry after your diploma.

Other Factors to Keep in Mind:

  • Branch Preference : Popular branches like CSE, IT, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical generally have a higher cutoff, but branches like Civil , Mechanical , and Electrical have comparatively lower cutoffs in some colleges.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid : Many private universities offer scholarships based on JEE scores, which may help reduce your fees.

  • Private University Admissions : Check for universities that accept JEE Main scores, and review their criteria and cutoff ranges.

Conclusion :

With your JEE Main rank of 224,000 , your best options would likely be:

  • Private engineering colleges like VIT, SRM, Amity, Shiv Nadar , and others, where you may still be able to secure admission in branches other than the most competitive ones (like CSE ).

  • State government colleges through state-level exams or counseling in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh , and other states.
