How Many Students Appeared For GATE 2026 - IIT Guwahati will release the number of students who appeared for the GATE 2026 exam on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates can check the number of students who appeared for GATE 2026 on this page after it gets released. The GATE 2026 result will be released along with the statistical date. In the previous year, there were 936,019 registrations for the GATE exam, and 747319 candidates appeared for it. The authority will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026. The GATE 2026 admit card will be released on January 2, 2026.
In 2023, 75,000 candidates appeared for the GATE exam; In 2024, the number increased to 123,000 candidates; and in 2025, 170, 000 candidates appeared. The authority conducted the GATE 2026 registration from August 28 to October 13, 2025 without late fee. However, candidates could also apply for the exam with a late fee till November 10, 2025.
