GATE CSE 2027 month wise preparation tips ensure that students remain organised and cover the entire syllabus within time. Besides, it leaves sufficient time for revision, practice with PYQs, and taking mock tests.
September can be used to gain a good understanding of programming and data structures.
Learn: Basics of C programming, variables and data types, operators, loops and decision-making, functions, recursion, arrays, pointers, structures, strings, and data structures
Study: Linked list, stack, queue, tree, binary search tree, heap, hashing, basic graph concepts
After learning each topic, practise solving the GATE previous year questions. Don’t wait till the end of the month to start PYQ practice.
By the end of September, candidates must:
Complete programming basics
Complete major data structure topics
Solve PYQs of topics
Prepare short notes
Weak topics identified
In October, one needs to study algorithms and digital logic.
Algorithms
Study the following topics:
Time and space complexity, searching, sorting, divide and conquer, greedy algorithms, dynamic programming, graph algorithms, minimum spanning tree, shortest path algorithms

The below-given GATE CSE 2027 month-wise preparation tips can be beneficial for candidates to maintain consistency in preparation:
Study one subject at once: Try not to study many hard subjects at once.
Do PYQs after each topic: It will enable you to learn how the concepts are asked in exams.
Maintain short notes: Just write formulas, concepts, and mistakes.
Revision on a weekly basis: Weekly revision will keep the previously studied concepts fresh in mind.
Prepare Mathematics: Try not to leave the complete mathematics part for January.
Do aptitude on a daily basis: Daily practice of 30 minutes can be enough.
Write mock tests in January: Try to improve speed and accuracy through mock tests.
Analyse every mock test: Figure out why you lost marks rather than just looking at the marks.
Study your weak topics: Spend extra time on those topics where your accuracy is lower.
Don’t study too many books: Limit the resources you study.
Maths can be studied in parallel with the core topics in CSE. One way of doing this is to study maths on a weekly basis along with the GATE CSE 2027 month wise preparation plan and then revise it in January.
Month | Areas to Cover |
September | Maths basics |
October | Discrete Maths + PYQs |
November | Linear Algebra |
December | Calculus, Probability and Statistics |
January | Complete revision + PYQs |

A student who is preparing for GATE CSE in 7-8 hours daily may allocate time as follows:
Work to do | Time |
Main CSE subject | 3 hours |
PYQs/practice | 2 hours |
Mathematics | 1 hour |
General Aptitude | 45 minutes |
Revision | 45 minutes |
