GATE 2020 Exam Pattern
GATE 2020 will be conducted as a computer-based test. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and a total of 65 questions will be asked to the candidates. A section of general aptitude will have to be answered by all candidates in GATE 2020. The question paper of GATE will consist of multiple-choice and numerical answer type questions. There will be no negative marking for numerical answer type questions. All papers will consist of three sections except AR, CY, GG, EY, XL, PH and MA.

Hi Rahul.

Sorry, but unfortunately 40 marks in GATE are not enough to get into top NITs, if you are of General or OBC category. But, you have chances of getting into lower to middle tier NITs. Now it also depends on the branch you gave GATE in. The cutoff differs for different branches.


how many time we can attempt the gate exam after engineering?

There are no specific limits for anyone , you can write as many times you want to write the gate Examination. It is conducted once a year. You can write for number of times, there is no specific time limit or any age limit for appearing for gate Examination.

The qualifying cutoff (marks) of GATE 2019 for ECE branch was 26.7 for General category,24 for OBC-NCL category, 17.8 for ST/SC/PWD category.GATE admission cutoff is will differ from Institute to other and it will be released at the time of counseling.If you want to know about the admission cutoff of IITs and NITs for different branches,visit the below given website.

You can consider the Aptitude book by R.S Aggarwal as a great option for your preparation.Other than that you can go for books like Aptitude and reasoning by MADE EASY,Quantitative analysis by Arun Sharma.These are the books recommended by GATE aspirants.But try to stick to any one book for your preparation.All the best!!
