Careers360: Which course are you pursuing and in which year? What has been your most rewarding academic experience so far?

Sudharshan: I’m currently in the final year of my Computer Science program. One of the most rewarding experiences has been working on a mini-project to develop a basic web application. It allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge, improve coding skills, and gain confidence through collaborative teamwork.

Careers360: How would you describe the course curriculum and specializations?

Sudharshan: The B.E. CSE program under VTU blends theory and practice. Core subjects include Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, and Networks, with lab sessions and projects. Students can specialize in fields like AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and IoT. Internships, workshops, and industry tie-ups promote experiential learning, making the curriculum dynamic and career-ready.

Careers360: Did you face any initial challenges after joining the institute?

Sudharshan: Yes, transitioning from a rural background to city life was a big adjustment. My English communication was weak, and I felt uncertain at first. But with time, peer support and college resources helped me improve my language and confidence. Today, I feel empowered and grateful to East Point for shaping my journey.

Careers360: How was your experience with online learning during the pandemic?

Sudharshan: Starting college in 2021, I experienced remote learning from the beginning. Initially, it was tough navigating platforms like Zoom and Google Classroom. But the flexibility of online classes, especially recorded lectures, helped manage learning. Despite challenges like poor internet and screen fatigue, the experience taught me resilience and self-discipline.

Careers360: Online vs. Offline Classes – What’s your preference?

Sudharshan: Offline classes are more interactive and engaging. It’s easier to ask questions, collaborate, and stay focused. Online classes offered convenience but came with distractions and limited communication. Practical learning, especially in labs, is far better offline. While both have pros, I prefer the structured environment of offline learning.

Careers360: How easy was it to adapt to distance learning technologies?

Sudharshan: At first, adapting to online tools was overwhelming. But over time, I became comfortable using Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Google Classroom. A stable internet connection and support from faculty made the transition smooth. These platforms eventually helped improve my tech literacy and self-learning skills.

Careers360: Has your institute conducted guest lectures or industry interactions?

Sudharshan: Absolutely. East Point regularly hosts guest lectures, tech talks, and workshops with industry experts. These sessions bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. I’ve participated in hackathons and seminars that boosted my confidence, leadership, and teamwork—preparing me for the competitive tech world.

Careers360: How does the institute connect students with industry leaders?

Sudharshan: Through seminars, webinars, and guest sessions, East Point connects us with professionals from leading companies. Attending a talk by a senior software engineer from an MNC was particularly impactful—it gave me insights into real-world software development. These interactions enhance our industry-readiness and career perspective.

Careers360: What initiatives are taken to make learning more engaging?

Sudharshan: The college employs smart classrooms, real-world case studies, and project-based learning to keep us engaged. Activities like coding competitions, lab sessions, group projects, and workshops encourage active participation. Faculty members are approachable, and sessions are often interactive, making learning both effective and enjoyable.

Careers360: Has the institute provided adequate learning resources and support?

Sudharshan: Yes, East Point offers excellent academic resources—modern labs, a rich library, and access to digital content. Faculty are always available for guidance, and structured mentorship programs support academic and personal development. This nurturing environment has helped me grow in every aspect.

Careers360: How supportive have your teachers been in your learning journey?

Sudharshan: Our teachers are highly supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in our success. The mentorship system ensures each student gets personalized guidance on academics and career planning. Their encouragement has helped me improve my performance and boosted my self-confidence tremendously.

Technical clubs like the Coding Club, Robotics Club, and AI/ML Club host workshops, seminars, and coding challenges. I actively participate in cultural events and sports activities throughout the year, which foster teamwork and balance. A highlight was winning first prize in an international hackathon—an unforgettable experience that boosted my confidence and skillset.

Careers360: What’s the faculty-student ratio and relationship like?

Sudharshan: The faculty-student ratio is ideal, allowing for personalized attention. The relationship between students and faculty is collaborative and approachable. We are encouraged to ask questions, and teachers are always available for guidance—both academically and personally—which fosters a strong sense of trust and motivation.

Careers360: Does the college support internships? Share your experience.

Sudharshan: Yes, our college’s Training and Placement Cell plays an active role in securing internships. I interned at Coder Range as a Python Developer in my third year, with a stipend of ₹10,000/month. It was an intense yet enriching experience where I applied real-world coding skills, adapted to industry timelines, and improved time management. It shaped my vision for a career in tech.

Careers360: Tell us about the placement support. Are there resume sessions and mock interviews?

Sudharshan: Absolutely. The Placement Cell collaborates with top recruiters and conducts training sessions in aptitude, communication, and technical skills. Faculty and seniors guide us with resume-building and mock interviews. Their support and mentorship make the placement preparation journey smooth, structured, and encouraging.

Careers360: How do you manage academics, exams, and extracurriculars?

Sudharshan: Time management is key. I maintain a structured schedule for classes, study time, projects, and activities. During exams, I shift focus to revision but continue meeting project milestones. The supportive faculty and well-organized academic calendar make it easier to maintain balance and avoid burnout.

Careers360: How are the hostels in terms of comfort and cleanliness?

Sudharshan: Hostels are clean, safe, and comfortable. Rooms are well-furnished with Wi-Fi and daily housekeeping. Separate blocks for boys and girls ensure privacy and security. The overall atmosphere is conducive for study and relaxation, truly making it feel like a home away from home.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts on and off-campus?

Sudharshan: On campus, students often relax at the turf, gym, or basketball court. These are the go-to places to unwind. Off-campus, popular spots include Brigade Road, MG Road, and Commercial Street, which are perfect for shopping, dining, and hanging out with friends on weekends.

Careers360: How do you spend your free time on campus?

Sudharshan: In my leisure time, I enjoy playing sports, working out at the gym, or simply catching up with friends. I also visit the digital library to explore topics beyond the syllabus. Participating in cultural and tech club events is another way I relax while staying productive.
