Otherwise, he/ she will have both the seats forfeited.

Q - How are seats allocated under JoSAA?

A - JoSAA seat allotment in NITs + institutes is based on JEE main rank, choices filled, and availability of seats. JoSAA decides upon the allocation of seats. For IITs, JEE Advanced ranks, choices filled by the candidates, and availability of seats will be taken into consideration for seat allocation.

Q - Will there be any spot round or special round of JoSAA allotment?

A - No, the authorities will not conduct any spot round of seat allotment. However, after all 5 rounds of JoSAA seat allocation are held, there will be a special round for NITs + institutes only. This will have a new choice filling where all the candidates (including those who are already admitted, non-admitted, and those who did not fill choices earlier) will be allowed to fill their choices.

Q - Will candidates be required to report again, if they wish to upgrade?

A - Yes, it is mandatory for candidates to report if the upgrade is from an NIT+ Institute to an IIT or vice versa. If the upgrade is within the same system, they will not have to report again.

A - In this case, your accepted seat in NIT, IIIT, or GFTI will be treated as forfeited.

Q - What will happen if there are multiple candidates with the same rank seeking admission to the same academic program?

A - All the candidates will be given equal preference in such a case. If required, supernumerary seats will be created.
