How to calculate JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 Shift 1 & 2 percentile from marks

The Session 1 of JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 was conducted in multi-shifts, and the NTA calculates scores based on raw marks obtained in each shift. NTA percentile scores for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and the total score for B.E. / B. Tech.

The Percentile scores are scores based on the Shift-wise relative performance of all those who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each Shift of examinees. The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as follows:

Formula: 100 X Number of candidates appeared in the ‘Shift’ with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate/The total number of the candidates who appeared in the ‘Shift’

Note: The Percentile of the Total shall NOT be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of the individual subject. The percentile score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.
