When will NTA release JEE answer key 2026? The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the session 1 JEE Main answer key 2026 tentatively by February 1, 2026. According to the official brochure, the JEE Main answer key is released 2-3 days after the last exam. JEE Main session 1 exam will conclude on January 29. Hence, it is expected that the JEE Main 2026 answer key pdf and response sheet will be released by February 1.
IIIT Hyderabad has very high JEE Main cut-offs, especially for CSE. General category candidates usually need a near-perfect percentile (around 99.7 or higher) and very low ranks through JoSAA. However, the institute also offers admission through UGEE, which allows students to apply without using JEE Main scores.

NTA will first release the provisional answer key for checking. If a candidate finds any incorrect answer or misprint, then they can challenge the provisional answer key. NTA will then evaluate the answer key and challenges filed, and later release the final answer key. After the release of the final JEE answer key, NTA will not accept any challenge from the students. The final JEE answer key will be released along with the JEE result by February 12.
NTA has not announced any specific JEE answer key release date. However, as per the brochure, the release date for JEE answer key falls 2-3 days after the exam. Here is the tentative JEE answer key date.

Candidates will be able to calculate their score before the result declaration with the help of the JEE answer key and response sheet. To do so, they need to match their response with the answers mentioned in the answer key. Later, follow the marking scheme and calculate the scores.
JEE Main 2026 Marking Scheme
Correct Answer - Four marks (+4)
Incorrect Answer- Minus one mark (-1) for MCQs
Zero (0) for Numerical value questions.
Add all the positive marks and deduct the negative ones to know the actual scores. However, candidates are advised to wait for the final NTA JEE Mains answer key to calculate the most accurate scores.
To download the JEE Mains answer key, candidates should follow the below given steps-
Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in
Click on the “JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Answer Key”
Enter the application number and password correctly in the given space
Now, click on “Submit”
Candidates need to click on the response link. The complete JEE answer key with the responses of students will appear on the screen. Candidates are suggested to download the same and calculate the scores.
The provisional JEE answer key for paper 1 will be uploaded along with the recorded response and question paper. The last date to challenge the JEE Main answer key will be mentioned in the notice uploaded along with the release. Candidates will have to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 200/- per question and attach the proof to challenge the provisional answer key.
The National Testing Agency always releases the final JEE Main answer key along with the results. Accordingly, the final JEE Main 2026 answer key release date will be either February 11 or 12. The only mode to release the JEE answer key is online, and candidates can download the same by entering their login credentials. NTA will host the JEE Main answer key download link on its official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
