Top Engineering Colleges in India With Median Salary- Every year, MoE devises the NIRF ranks for top Indian colleges based on several factors including the placement statistics. Based on the 2024 ranking, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur are top 5 engineering colleges in India. They also provide some of the best placements of all. However, due to the global economic slowdown, most of the top colleges in India reported lower-than-usual median salaries in 2024. Whereas in 2023, the median salary at top engineering colleges in India ranged between Rs 30.30 Lakhs per annum to Rs 4 Lakhs per annum.

Out of top 20 engineering colleges based on median salary, 18 are public institutions (comprising 14 IITs, 2 IIITs, one NIT and one state govt. college) and 2 are private institutes. MS score plays an important role in deriving the NIRF rank. Median Salary (MS) is one of the parameters of Graduation Outcomes under the NIRF Ranking parameters. MS, as part of GO, has 20% weightage in overall score. Maximum marks possible under MS parameter is 25. These marks are provided mainly based on the median salary recorded by the institute in the past three years. In NIRF 2024 Ranking, IIIT Hyderabad has obtained the highest score of 25 out of 25 marks under this parameter, followed by IIIT Allahabad and IIT Kanpur with scores of 23.63 and 21.84 marks respectively.

If you’re appearing for Class 12 (HSC) in 2026 and don’t have your board admit card or roll number yet, you can leave the “Registration No./Enrollment No./Roll No.” field blank or enter “NA” (Not Applicable) if the form allows.
Do not enter your school GR number, as it’s not recognized by the exam board or NTA.
Once your board issues the admit card or registration number, it can be updated later during JEE Main form correction or at the time of result verification.
So, for now, safely enter “NA” or leave blank — not your GR number.

For JEE Main EWS certificate, your parent's income certificate is required, not yours.
The EWS category is based on the family’s annual income, which must be below 8 lakhs from all sources.
The certificate should be issued by a competent government authority and must be valid for the current financial year.
