For class 12 passed out students, there are multiple ways to get admission in engineering colleges of West Bengal. Entrance exams are held every year at state, national and university levels.

National Testing Agency(NTA) conducts JEE exams twice in a year. JEE Main is the exam at the first level and is based on Physics, Chemistry and Maths of 11th and 12th standard. Candidates clearing this exam are eligible for undergraduate courses in the field of engineering. At the next level, there is JEE Advanced for students who qualify JEE Main. JEE Advanced is conducted by seven Zonal Coordinating IITs and gives a ticket to IITs and other top engineering colleges of the country.

Candidates from West Bengal can appear in WBJEE conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. Clearing WBJEE gives admission to many private and government institutions.

For higher studies in Engineering also, West Bengal has a lot to offer. At the state level, WBUT PGET (West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Test) is conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology every year for admission to M.tech courses.
