The authority conducted the JoSAA 2025 registration from June 3 to 12, 2025, in online mode through the registration link on the official website. JEE Main 2025 candidates will need their Application Number and password to register. Whereas, for foreign nationals who have not registered/appeared in JEE (Main) 2025, they can log in with JEE (Advanced) 2025 Direct Registration login id and password.
Once the candidate has successfully registered, they will have to select the institute and course of their choice. There is no limit to the number of choices candidates can put in, however, allocation will be done in the order of the choices given. Hence, candidates must carefully fill in their choices. After mock allotment. candidates were able to edit their choices and then lock them. Failure to do so results in the system automatically considering the last saved choices.
Candidates who have not been allotted any seats can also exit from the JoSAA counselling 2025 between the second and fifth rounds of counselling. Candidates who exit will also not be considered for further rounds of counselling.
The seat allocation for JoSAA 2025 is done based on the choices filled in by the candidates during the choice filling window. The authority released the seat allocation of JoSAA online only. The candidates are provided the option to accept the seat and/or opt for an upgrade. After seat acceptance, applicants will have to pay the requisite fee within the dates specified.
Once the allotments are released, candidates have the option of JoSAA Freeze, Float, and Slide. Candidates have to choose one of the three options available. Failure to do so indicates that the candidate wants to forfeit his seat.
Freeze: Choosing the freeze option indicates that the candidates have accepted the seal allotment. They cannot participate in further JOSAA counselling rounds. Once the candidate freezes a seat, they must then upload the documents and pay the required fees.
Float: The candidate is accepting the seat allotment, but they are willing to be considered for a higher allotment in the subsequent round.
Slide: The candidate is accepting the seat but would be considered for a higher allotment in a different programme in the same institute.
Once the JoSAA 2025 counselling process is concluded, candidates have to report to the institute of choice. Candidates have to submit all the required documents and conclude the admission process. A partial fee will also be required to be paid by the candidates. However, candidates will also have the option of withdrawing their seats from the JoSAA counselling. They can do this in a specific period. Withdrawing their seats causes the candidates to be ineligible to participate in further rounds of JoSAA counselling.
Candidates who have rejected or withdrawn their seats in the JoSAA 2025 counselling will be allowed to participate in the counselling in 2026. However, candidates who have accepted their seats by reporting online but do not withdraw their seats, or accept the counselling and do not attend classes, cannot apply for the JoSAA 2026 counselling.
Candidates whose seat allotment has been cancelled by the authority due to various reasons will also not be eligible to reapply for admission to IITs. The complete list of reasons can be found in the JoSAA 2025 business rules.
