Across the 8 NITs and 10 IITs analysed, the data shows NITs have a higher level of student participation and engagement in the placement process compared to IITs for Civil Engineering. As the total approved intake across 8 NITs was 718 students, 75 per cent (542 students) registered for placements and 394 students accepted offers. This demonstrates 72.69 per cent of registered students got placements but the placement rate stood at 54.87 per cent against the approved intake.

The average CTC for Civil Engineering graduates in NITs stands at Rs 9.5 LPA, which is lesser than the other top branches at NITs like CSE (Rs 17.98 LPA) by around 50 per cent. Even, if comparing the CSE placement rate against approved intake at NITs (82.24 per cent), there is a decline of around 27 per cent in the placement rate for Civil Engineering.

Observation: If you are considering Civil Engineering placement outcomes with top branches like CSE, this is crucial to understand that the chances that you will get placed with Civil Engineering as compared to the best branch is nearly 30-35 per cent lesser and the salary you will get is half or less than half of what a computer science engineering would get you. However, if your interest is in civil engineering, just go for it and secure a good placement.

In conclusion, if you are aiming to build a career in civil engineering, these NITs provide the most robust destination to excel in your career. Since you already have your JEE Main Results 2026 in your hand, use these rankings for these institutes and take a step ahead towards data-driven future choices.
