National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Ropar has attained the status of a deemed University in the year 2023. NIELIT is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology admissions are offered based on the scores obtained in entrance examinations such as JEE Main/ GATE.

Careers360 brings you an exclusive interview with Prateek Dhar Dwivedi, a B.Tech CSE student at NIELIT Ropar. In this interview, Prateek speaks about the overall campus environment of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Ropar.

Careers360: Please give us an introduction of yourself.

Prateek: My name is Prateek Dhar Dwivedi, currently pursuing B. Tech in CSE (AI/ML) from NIELIT Deemed to be University, Ropar. I am passionate about competitive programming, web development, cyber security and exploring innovations/new technologies in the tech world. I believe in team work and commitment towards your work.

Careers360: How would you describe the overall campus environment of NIELIT?

Prateek: The overall campus environment at NIELIT Ropar is quite positive and motivating. The faculty is supportive, and are committed to give best education to their students. The atmosphere is good. But there is always chance for improvement in the infrastructure as I am hosteller so there are cleanliness problems.

Careers360: How student-friendly are the administrative processes at NIELIT?

Prateek: The administrative processes are student-friendly and they help student in every aspect of student problems.

Careers360: Are there any unique aspects of NIELIT campus life that you think set it apart from other institutions?

Prateek: Yes, I feel the distance between student and professor is not too large, like in government institutes. Also, most of are faculty want their student to be the best in the tech world, and our ED sir also thinks as up to my knowledge.

Also, our ED sir randomly any day teaches us about the key concepts of the industry and teaches us some important topics.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty during the initial months of your joining the institute?

Prateek: Yes, I feel some like as a hosteller problem was:

  1. Cleanliness

  2. Mess timing and food, which were solved up too now to some extent.

Careers360: How would a typical day at the NIELIT campus look like for you?

Prateek: A Day in NIELIT is so much fruitful for me in accordance with studies, personality development and much more/

Careers360: Are there active student clubs (technical, cultural, or hobby-based) at your NIELIT campus?

Prateek: Yes, but in my first year these clubs were not so active, but now in my 2nd year, they are really doing something for clubs. We have all the clubs as mentioned above.

Careers360: Does the NIELIT campus organise tech fests, seminars, or student events?
Prateek:
Yes, they do seminary, student events, but till now there have not been any tech fests.

Careers360: Have you had opportunities to participate in inter-NIELIT or external events/ competitions?

Prateek: Yes, in external events/competitions, but no tech fest.

Careers360: What would you like to improve about campus life at your NIELIT campus?

Prateek: By creating a coding club, organising events, hackathons, seminars, and so much more to improve students' technical and personality development skills

Careers360: Are there enough hangout spots or common areas on campus? If yes, then which one is your favourite and why?

Prateek: Yes, the common room for boys to play soccer.

Careers360: Share a memorable moment from your time spent at the NIELIT campus.

Prateek: Yeah, I have many memories. I completed one winning competition with my professor in NICEDT 2024. Also with other professor like talking with them with their bachelor's.

Practical learning with my IoT teacher in the lab and much more, I can’t share only one moment that will not be good with my other memories.

Careers360: What advice would you give to a new student joining NIELIT?

Prateek: Must join NIELIT Ropar so much to learn, even the ED sir, who is not in the academic department, is still teaching us to make is the best in the tech world.
And the professors are amazing, and there is so much to learn also, if I take the name of anyone, that would be bad with other professors, and I love my college and faculty and the environment here. Also, the best is yet to come from NIELIT Ropar for their students.
