QnA related to IIT Hyderabad

Ask your question related to IIT Hyderabad

Hello,

Congratulations on your GATE 2025 performance! With a GATE score of 647 and an All India Rank (AIR) of 1078 in Civil Engineering, you have a competitive profile. Admission to the M.Tech in Structural Engineering at IIT Hyderabad is highly sought after, and the required GATE scores can vary annually based on factors like applicant pool strength, seat availability, and overall performance.

While specific cutoff scores for 2025 are not yet available, we can refer to previous years' data for insight:

  • 2024: The OBC-NCL cutoff for Structural Engineering was 689 .

  • 2023: The OBC-NCL cutoff for Structural Engineering was 723 .

These figures suggest that the cutoff scores have been relatively high in recent years. Given your score of 647, admission to IIT Hyderabad's Structural Engineering program may be challenging.

Alternative Options to Consider:

  1. Other IITs: Explore Structural Engineering programs at other IITs where the cutoff scores might align more closely with your GATE score.

  2. NITs and IIITs: Institutes like NIT Warangal , NIT Trichy , and IIIT Hyderabad offer reputable M.Tech programs in Structural Engineering with potentially more accessible cutoff scores.

  3. State Universities and Private Institutions: Consider universities such as Osmania University or JNTU Hyderabad , which have strong engineering faculties and may have different admission criteria.

Next Steps:

  • Research: Investigate the specific admission requirements and cutoff trends of the alternative institutions mentioned.

  • Application Process: Ensure you understand the application timelines and procedures for each institution, as they may differ.

While securing a seat in IIT Hyderabad's Structural Engineering program may be competitive with your current GATE score, exploring these alternative pathways can lead you to a fulfilling academic and professional journey in Civil Engineering.

Hello,

Your daughter's GATE 2025 score of 647 and rank of 1078 in the OBC category may make it challenging to secure a seat in Structural Engineering at IIT Hyderabad.

Previous years' cutoffs for OBC candidates were slightly higher. However, cutoffs change every year based on factors like seat availability and competition. She should still apply and participate in the counseling process, as she may get a seat in later rounds or through category-based reservations.

Hope it helps !

Hello,
IIT Hyderabad CSE is better. It offers better salary packages and exposure. According to the recent highlights of IIT Hyderabad, the average CTC for the CSE branch is around INR 20 LPA. Hyderabad is an IT hub and has all major corporate houses in the IT sector. For CSE, IIIT Hyderabad is better than all IITs, in terms of research, internships, packages, etc. In 2021, IIIT Hyderabad placements had witnessed the highest CTC of INR 56 LPA. The coding culture at the institute is unbeatable. For branches other than CSE, IIT B is definitely the better choice. IIIT Hyderabad has more reputation and is better in terms of academics and competitive aspects. In terms of syllabus, IIIT Hyderabad has an updated syllabus. For cse students, coding starts from year 1. When it comes to the quality of education provided IITs are ahead of the NITs. Both IITs and NITs are extremely good in providing education and producing good engineers, but at the same time the top IIT colleges have an edge because of their high standard of studies.
IITH creates a unique holistic ecosystem for education that offers interactive learning, a very flexible academic structure, cutting-edge research, strong industry collaboration, and entrepreneurship. This is an environment which enables students and faculty to translate their dreams into realities.
Most of the IIT pass-outs go abroad at higher salaries starting from 2 lakhs or more monthly packages through the Campus Placements. The job opportunities in NITs are also quite assumable! With a package starting from 8,00,000 or above and the chances of International jobs can be expected in NITs.
Around 20% students in their final year at the National Institute of Technology (NIT-Jamshedpur) couldn't appear in the virtual campus placement owing to poor internet connectivity.
Hello Student
The marks you have got in jee advance is not so satisfactory . So to get the subject of CSE in Hyderabad is not so easy even you belong to ST category Student .But you may get any other branch in Hyderabad IIT for further course of Engineering study. You may get ECE,EEE,or IT subjects for your future course of study.
Hope this helps.

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is pioneering in the field of Biomedical Engineering and is also offering it's one of the flagship courses in the same field. There are a lot of course based on genetics in the department of Biomedical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.

So essentially yes, you will get to study about a lot about genetics in this program at IIT Hyderabad. Hope I have answered your question. All the best

Hey,

Cut off for every branch is different and it depends on number of factors such as:

  • Difficulty level of examination
  • Number of candidates, etc.

For IIT Hyderabad you should atleast score 170 - 175 to get any branch and to be on the safer side and minimum percentage of marks for each subject should be 2.50% ( for SC candidates)

For Artificial intelligence and Computer Engineering your rank should lie between 500 - 600 which means approximately 250 - 215 marks.
