According to the NTA JEE Main 2026 information bulletin, the exam pattern remains unchanged from last year. The paper will have 75 questions worth a total of 300 marks, divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There are some private colleges or universities which offer direct engineering admission. But the students must meet the BTech direct admission eligibility criteria to take admission or else their admission may get rejected. The eligibility criteria may differ from college to college. Qualification - The applicant must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board. Recognised boards include CBSE, ICSE, State boards, NIOS and other similar ones.
Minimum percentage - Candidates must have a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 examinations.
Compulsory subjects - It is compulsory for students to have PCM i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12. English is also made a compulsory subject by some colleges.
Age limit - The applicant must be at least 17 years old. There is no age limit for applying for admission in engineering.
Merit: Candidates applying for direct admission should have a very high merit in the qualifying examination.
