Careers360: Is the industry work different from what you learnt at Bennett University?

Suramya: I would say Partially yes. As the foundations and core remains the same as covered in university curriculum, there are further tech-enabled programming skills, though given a glimpse at university level, that still differ in its application and learning.

Careers360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

Suramya: At the professional level, the awareness about the industry standards and skills inculcated at the university level played a key role, along with technologies and different domains that can be opted for as a part of the curriculum. Personally, solid networking skills across different schools improved communication and analytical skills.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined Bennett University?

Suramya: I was sceptical of job offers because it was a new university but had a positive feeling being a Times property. Later, I was impressed by the attention given per student by teachers. Thus, the overall experience turned out to be a nurturing one.

Careers360: You must have had a memorable time at BU. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Suramya: More than I can type. More than I can remember. Fortunately, most are captured in photos. From pyjama parties to Lohri celebrations. From fests to sporting events. Hostel memories and late-night project discussions. Trivial but integral.

Careers360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.

Suramya: My day started with having breakfast and attending morning classes. Small tea breaks gave us a chance to catch up with friends. Lunch, labs, a few other classes, then evening snacks, hitting the gym, hanging out with the gang in some part of campus or hostel room. Playing a bit of video games, then having dinner and walking around the campus before crashing for the day.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in, and how did they enrich your life?

Suramya: I found doing gym as a part of my day as a very relaxing activity. I was introduced to it on the campus itself. My friends used to have jam sessions of music in our hostel rooms, that was very relaxing. Apart from it the campus was full of events one after the other to keep up the zeal.

Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements, and what was the role of the institute?

Suramya: Our curriculum at BU was designed keeping in mind the latest industry trends, and a major role was played by our faculty who delivered it to all of us constantly. Teachers were the most important factor that kept us updated with trends in the industry. Faculty is king, and ours were so.
