JEE Advanced 2016 result has been announced on June 12 and Rajasthan boy Aman Bansal has bagged All India Rank 1 among 36,566 candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced 2016 for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and ISM Dhanbad.While Aman has clinched the top rank, Bhavesh Dhingra and Kunal Goyal have bagged AIR 2 and AIR 3 respectively in the Common Rank List (CRL) declared by IIT Guwahati.

Riya Singh from Kota has emerged as the topper amongst 4,570 qualified girl candidates, securing an AIR of 133.
Out of a total of 1,47,678 appeared candidates, as many as 36,566 test takers have cleared the coveted engineering entrance exam. Out of the total test takers, 31,996 were male candidates while 4,570 were female.

Securing an All India Rank 4, Duggani Jeevithiesh from Vijayawada has become the topper among OBC-NCL candidates.
IIT Guwahati has also declared the category and zone wise toppers of JEE Advanced 2016 on June 12.
Zone-wise distribution of top candidates–
Candidates from IIT Madras have outshined the candidates from other zones in the top 10 list. Out of the top 10 rankers of JEE Advanced 2016, 5 toppers are from this zone. However, examinees from IIT Bombay zone have shown the best performance in terms of cracking the entrance exam. Among the top 500 rank holders, as many as 153 are from this IIT zone.

A total of 1,55,948 candidates had registered for JEE Advanced this year, out of which, as many as 1,47,678 candidates had appeared in this coveted entrance exam on May 22, which was held to offer admissions to 10,575 seats in prestigious IITs and ISM Dhanbad. With the addition of 4 new IITs - IIT Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), IIT Goa, IIT Jammu and IIT Karnataka from the academic year 2016-17, seat intake for undergraduate engineering programmes at IITs has gone up from 10,006 last year to 10, 575 this year. As these 4 new IITs will become functional this year, the total number of IITs is 23 (including ISM) now.
