Understand JEE Main - What and How is asked?

JEE Main exam is conducted for admission in first year B.E./B.Tech or B.Arch/B.Plan course. The exam has two Papers, Paper 1 is for candidates opting for B.E./B.Tech admission while Paper 2 is for candidates opting for B.Arch/B.Plan. The Paper 1 exam has questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of class 11 and 12 while Paper 2 has questions from Mathematics, General Aptitude and Drawing for B.Arch and Mathematics, General Aptitude and Planning for B.Plan. The exam is conducted online as a computer based test except for the drawing part of B.Arch which is conducted on A4 Paper.

JEE Main is the exam which tests the basic and fundamental knowledge of candidates in science and mathematics. In a conversation with Careers360, NTA Director Vineet Joshi said, JEE Main is not the exam to deselect any candidate, it is the exam to select the deserving candidate.

Questions in JEE Main is designed to analyse the analytical, conceptual and fundamental understanding of students. The level of questions are of class 11 and 12 but the skills required to solve the questions may be high. Students with basic knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be easily able to crack the exam. Students are thus advised not to rote learn or memorize the topics but study them thoroughly.
