Q. When will JEE Main 2018 counselling start?

Ans: The JEE Main 2018 counselling process, which will be conducted by JoSAA, will commence tentatively from the second week of June 2018.

 

Q. What is the eligibility to apply for JEE Main 2018 counselling?

Ans: To apply for JEE Main 2018 counselling, all candidates should qualify JEE Main 2018 examination. Along with their JEE Main 2018 qualification, the candidates should also meet the required eligibility criteria. 

 

Q. Is the eligibility different for state admissions through JEE Main 2018?

Ans: All candidates will have to qualify JEE Main 2018 examination for state admissions. However, the eligibility criteria will vary according to the state authorities.

 

Q. Is the eligibility same for B.Arch courses in the states universities through JEE Main 2018?

Ans: For admissions into the state universities, all candidates will be required to qualify JEE Main 2018 examination. There may be other eligibility clauses which will differ according to the different states.

 

Q. I have 74.9% in my class XII. Will I be ineligible to apply for admissions to the NITs, IITs, IIITs or GFTIS? Should I not apply?

Ans: Unfortunately you will not be eligible for admissions into NITs, IIITs or GFTIs. The exact score which has to be secured in 75% for general category and 65% for SC/ST category. However, if you fall under the top percentile of the 12th standard board examination then you will have a chance for admissions into NITs, IIITs or GFTIs.

 

Q. What is preparatory course and who is eligible for this? What is the advantage?

Ans: The preparatory courses are conducted by IITs for SC, ST and PwD candidates. The duration of the course will be one year and the admissions will be open only if the seats in the respective categories are vacant, if the candidates meet the eligibility for the preparatory courses and if the candidate has not accepted admission to preparatory courses earlier. Those candidates who successfully complete their preparatory course will be offered direct admission to the allocated course. Candidates admitted to preparatory courses will also be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2018 exam to fulfil other eligibility criteria.

 

Q. If I choose to take the preparatory course admission, do I have to appear for JEE again or will I be given admissions? What is the policy?

Ans: Direct admission will be given to the candidates after successful completion of the course. The admission will be provided to the candidates in the earlier allocated seat.

Q. Is giving JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 better or NATA?

Ans: Both exams are of equal credibility. JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 and NATA 2018 provide admissions into B.Arch courses offered by the top institutes. However, NATA is usually preferred more since it offers admissions into a more wide range of institutes.

 

Q. Which institutes and state universities take JEE Main as basis for admissions?

Ans: NITs, IIITs and CFTIs provide admissions on the basis of JEE Main  scores. Along with these national level institutes, some private and state level colleges and institutes also provide admission based on JEE Main 2018 scores.

 

Q. Is the eligibility for other states and institutes taking through JEE Main 2018 different?

Ans: The eligibility criteria for other state level and private institutes will be different according to individual requirements.
