Careers360: Congratulations for your performance in JEE Main 2019! What was your reaction upon knowing your score?

Ankit: I was not expecting this much better rank and score, but, yes, I worked hard for my JEE Main 2019 preparation.
Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school did you studied in?
Ankit: I appeared in my class 12 board exam and is waiting for the result. I study in ALLEN Swami Vivekanand Junior College Of Science And Commerce in Mumbai. I basically hail from Odisha. My mother is a home maker and my father is a banker
Careers360: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Any reason?
Ankit: I have a keen interest in basic sciences.I think that’s the reason why I choose engineering.
Careers360: When did you start your JEE Main preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Main?
Ankit: I started preparing for JEE Main from class 11. I use to study 6-7 hours daily for JEE Main apart from my school hours.
Careers360: Did you face any difficulties since the examination was conducted completely in computer based mode?
Ankit: NTA established so many test practise centres for practicing the online test. I prepared to take online test in my coaching which helped me a lot. I did not faced any difficulty as such in appearing the exam.
Careers360: Was there a difference in the preparation strategy in the last months of JEE Main considering that the board exams were also held simultaneously? How did you manage preparation for both?
Ankit: I managed to study both without much difficulty. I prepared for my board exams and the JEE Main preparation simultaneously. Yes, of course, there were times when managing the time was a bit difficult, but it was then, that my parents came forward and pushed me up.
Careers360: Did you take coaching for JEE Main and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Ankit: I took coaching from Allen Career Institute here in Mumbai. It was very beneficial for me as it helped me with the preparation study materials, faculties at the institute helped a lot in clearing my doubts. I would say that it would not have been possible for me to score this better without coaching institute.
Careers360: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year papers help and how?
Ankit: I practiced a lot with sample papers and model test papers. As I also appeared in online model test so I was having an idea about the exam pattern.
Careers360: What was the difficulty level of exam, which subjects did you find easy or difficult in the exam.
Ankit: The overall difficulty level of exam was moderate. Physics and Mathematics was moderate in difficulty level while Chemistry was comparatively, a bit easier.
Careers360: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Main preparation? Are the school text books adequate for preparing for JEE Main and Class XII?
Ankit: I studied mainly from NCERT books. Beside this, I also practiced with the study material from the coaching institute.
Careers360: Did you appeared in any other exam other than JEE Main 2019?
Ankit: I also appeared in KVPY and secured AIR 43. I also qualified National Physics Olympiad and attended the camp at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
Careers360: Which college do you aspire, do you have any specific branch in your mind?
Ankit: I want to study Computer Science at IIT Mumbai. It’s the best and I want to study there.
Careers360: Who is your ideal or biggest inspiration in life and why?
Ankit: My mother is my biggest inspiration. She, being herself busy with her work, always managed to guide me, teach me and support me throughout my preparation. I am very much thankful to my parents and relatives, they also supported me during my study.
Careers360: Being a JEE Main 2019 topper, you are an inspiration to thousands of students across the country. Would you like to give any message to them.
Ankit: I would say that all students who are preparing for JEE Main or any other competitive exam, should study well and make concepts clear. Working hard is the only key to success, so prepare well by books, practicing modal papers and sample papers.

You have time to think about it until December 30th, 2019. Because if you want to appear for NEET, the last date to fill in the applications is December 31st, 2019. There will be huge traffic to the site on the last day so you can think about it until the 20th atleast. But on a brighter side, NEET covers most of the courses for Biology students. NEET scores are accepted for MBBS,BDS,Ayush, Veterinary courses, BPT, BOT, Nursing, IISER, etc. So this will cover most of the courses if you appear for NEET. You may as well give it a shot. With JEE preparation, all you need to study in additional is Biology and you may as well start it after completing JEE Mains exam. 50% Aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General Category, 45% for PWD and 40% for OBC,SC,ST Candidates.

Details that you need on hand:
A valid Mobile number, A valid Email id, class 10th and 12th details, correct spelling of your Father and Mother's name, Aadhar no# last 4 digits, Class 12 roll no# as issued by the Board, Scanned images, Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking Details.
All the communication from NTA will be online and through email so it is important to give an email id and mobile number that are in regular use. You will have to fill in the details like Candidates name, Mothers name, Fathers name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, State of Eligibility, Category, PWD, Identification Type, Identification Number, Mobile Number, Email Id, OTP.
Filling the Application Form:
You need to fill in details like Personal Details, Place of Birth, Choice of Medium of Question Paper
Choice of Examination Centre - four exam cities have to be chosen, 10th Academic Details, 11th, 12th Academic Details, Permanent Address, Correspondence Address
Details of Parents and Guardian, Dress Code Assent
Review and Final Submission: There will be a correction window open but not all the details can be edited. So it is important to review the information before submitting it.
Uploading of Photograph: Instructions
Must be latest passport picture in a white background with the Name of the candidate and date written on the photograph. The Size must be 50 Kb to 300 Kb and format should be JPG.
The focus has to be on the face with 80% coverage and ears clearly visible.
Uploading of Post Card size photograph: Instructions:
Must be latest post card size picture in a white background with the Name of the candidate and date written on the photograph. The Size must be 10 Kb to 100 Kb and format should be JPG
Uploading of Signature: Instructions
Candidates must sign with a black pen on a white background in JPG format with a file size of 4 Kb to 30 Kb
Uploading of Left hand thumb impression: Instructions:
The file size should be 10kb-50kb in JPG/JPEG format.
Class 10th Passing certificate: Instructions:
File size of 100kb to 400 kb in JPG/JPEG format.
It is Rs. 1500 for General Category. EWS and NCL OBC have to pay Rs.1400 and Rs. 800 for SC/ST/PWD/TransGender and the Payments can be made through Debit/Credit Cards or Net banking OR offline through SBI Echallan to be paid in cash in the nearest SBI branch.
