Aaditya Kumar has excelled in JEE Main 2024 by securing an All India Rank 4. His name is mentioned in the JEE Main toppers list 2024 for scoring 300 out of 300 and obtaining a 100 percentile. Talking with Careers360, Aaditya revealed his daily study sessions accounted for 9 to 10 hours. While preparing for JEE Main 2024, Aaditya took the help of multiple mock tests and sample papers. Presently he is aiming to clear JEE Advanced. He is looking forward to pursuing a career in Astrophysics after doing B.Tech in computer science from IIT Bombay.

Aditya took all his tests very seriously and would deeply analyse them. This helped him not to repeat mistakes in the next test and ultimately improve in all the subjects. Earlier, he had passed class 10th with 97.8% marks and since then he has been determined to clear the Joint Entrance Examination Mains.

Q1: Congratulations on your performance in the JEE Main 2024 exam! What was your reaction upon knowing your score?

Aditya Kumar: Thank you! Upon learning that I scored a perfect 300 out of 300, I was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude.

Q2: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school have you studied in?

Aditya Kumar: I studied under the CBSE board and attended National Public School, NPS, Indira Nagar in Bangalore before moving to DTPS.

Q3: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?

Aditya Kumar: I decided to study engineering around mid 10th grade. I'm particularly interested in pursuing astrophysics, which is why I aim to enter the field of Computer Science at IIT Bombay. Engineering, especially in IT, offers a wide array of opportunities, including research, which aligns with my passion for exploring astrophysics further.

Q4: When did you start your JEE Main preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Main.

Aditya Kumar: I began preparing for JEE Main around the end of 10th grade. My preparation consisted of a systematic daily regimen that began with calculation-based subjects in the morning, progressed to theoretical subjects later in the day, and included time for problem-solving and memorization. I also made sure to take breaks for relaxation and recap my lessons at the end of each day.

Q5: Did you face any difficulties since the examination was conducted completely in computer-based mode?

Aditya Kumar: Fortunately, I didn't face any significant difficulties with the computer-based mode of examination. I adapted well to the format. More so because I attempted multiple mock tests to get familiar with the exam pattern.

Q6: What was the preparation strategy in the last days of JEE Main?

Aditya Kumar: In the last few days of JEE Main, I focused more on solving JEE Main previous question papers. Not just solving but analysing my mistakes was a crucial step during this time.

Q7: Did you take coaching for JEE Main and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?

Aditya Kumar: Yes, I took coaching from ALLEN Career Institute. The coaching provided invaluable support from teachers and peers, helping me strengthen my subject knowledge and providing a competitive environment for regular assessments.

Q8: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year’s papers helps and how?

Aditya Kumar: I extensively practised JEE Main mock tests and sample papers, particularly from previous years. Practising from previous year's papers helps in understanding the exam pattern and identifying areas for improvement.

Q9: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Main preparation? Are the school textbooks adequate for preparing for JEE Main and Class XII?

Aditya Kumar: NCERT textbooks were vital for my JEE Main preparation, especially for Chemistry. Additionally, solving coaching-provided worksheets was beneficial for Physics and Mathematics.

Q10: Did you face any problems during the JEE Main examination? Which subject was the easiest and which was the toughest in JEE Main? What do you think is a tough thing to manage during the JEE Main exam?

Aditya Kumar: I didn't face any major problems during the exam. I found Physics and Chemistry relatively easier compared to Mathematics, which could be challenging due to their calculation-intensive nature.

Q11: What do you think are the key factors behind your stupendous success in JEE Main?

Aditya Kumar: The key factors behind my success include the support of my parents and teachers, self-confidence, meticulous planning, and consistent practice.

Q12: Since you scored 100 percentile in the JEE Main January session, did you appear for the April session of JEE Main 2024 too?

Aditya Kumar: No, I did not appear for JEE Main April session exam. I was satisfied with my performance in the first session and decided to spend the rest of my time on preparing for JEE advanced.

Q13: How did you de-stress yourself during the preparation? What are your hobbies? How often could you pursue them?

Aditya Kumar: I de-stressed by engaging in activities like playing badminton, going for walks, and listening to music. I made sure to incorporate these hobbies into my routine regularly.

Q14: Who is your ideal or biggest inspiration in life and why?

Aditya Kumar: My ideal inspiration is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for his humility, achievements, and emphasis on continuous learning.

Q15: You know you are an inspiration to thousands of students across the country. Do you have any message for future aspirants on tackling the JEE Main exam?

Aditya Kumar: My message to future aspirants is to believe in themselves, stay confident, and trust their abilities. Don't let panic overshadow your preparation, and remember that success is within reach with dedication and perseverance. Utilise preparation resources to the fullest. Do not just take tests and forget about them but take time to analyse them and work on the errors.
