Ipsit's success serves as an inspiration to aspiring engineers nationwide, showcasing the rewards of perseverance, hard work, and a steadfast pursuit of academic excellence.
Q1: Congratulations on your performance in the JEE Main January 2024 exam! What was your reaction upon knowing your score?
Ipsit Mittal: Upon knowing my score, I was extremely shocked and it wasn't expected. I was expecting good results, but 100 percentile was totally out of the box for me and everyone was very happy regarding it and then the celebrations that followed and the wishes that followed, they made a lot of dreams come true for my family.
Q2: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school have you studied in?
Ipsit Mittal: I am Ipsit Mittal. I have studied under the Central Board of Secondary Education, that is CBSE, and I have studied in Amity International School, my class 11th and 12th.
Q3: Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?
Ipsit Mittal: I always wanted to study engineering because I always liked maths and I always enjoyed solving questions and sometimes even just for fun, I would solve some good maths questions and I really like doing maths, so I always gravitated towards engineering and specifically I would be more interested towards a computer science branch because I feel that there are a lot of opportunities there and I think that coding.
Q4: When did you start your JEE Main preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Main?
Ipsit Mittal: For JEE MAIN preparation, I had been preparing for a JEE advanced examination since class 10th and for JEE MAIN exam specifically, I only started preparing about a month before the exam and in the last month, I just solved a lot of previous year papers and mock tests and all and I just specifically read the NCERT because my teachers told me that this exam is very NCERT oriented and so it is a must to read NCERT and know all the lines and know all the data, so I focused on that and I gave a lot of mock tests and there was no fixed daily routine for the examination. I just tried to correct my sleep time because it was very messed up before the exam, so I just focused on getting it in order before the exam and I just gave a lot of mock tests to get myself acclimatised for the three hour exam format.
Q5: Did you face any difficulties since the examination was conducted completely in computer-based mode?
Ipsit Mittal: I did not face any difficulties since the examination was conducted completely in computer-based mode. I found it more convenient because with OMR sheets, there is a huge margin for error but in computer-based exams, I felt slightly more confident and comfortable.
Q6: Was there a difference in the preparation strategy in the last months of JEE Main considering that the board exams are also coming up? How did you manage preparation for Both?
Ipsit Mittal: I was able to manage JEE MAIN and board examinations both because I feel that when you prepare for JEE MAIN, you give a lot of importance to NCERT and I feel that NCERT is what is asked in board examinations also, so I think that the preparation goes hand in hand and I also feel confident now for my upcoming board exams.
Q7: Did you take coaching for JEE Main and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Ipsit Mittal: Yes, I took coaching from FIITJEE South Delhi and the main benefit that I saw here was the competitive peer group and I would like greatly attribute this, my accomplishment to the peer group and competition that I found there because that pushed me and kept me motivated throughout the two years of preparation to just achieve more every single day.
Q8: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year’s papers helps and how?
Ipsit Mittal: I extensively practised the previous year papers for JEE MAIN. In the last months, I was doing at least one paper a day for JEE MAIN and it proved to be crucial for my score in JEE MAIN. Practising from the previous year’s papers helps as it gives you an idea about the exam pattern, types of questions asked, and helps in time management during the actual exam.
Q9: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Main preparation? Are the school textbooks adequate for preparing for JEE Main and Class XII?
Ipsit Mittal: The special books that I feel have helped me in JEE MAIN preparation specifically are NCERT only. I believe school textbooks are adequate for preparing for JEE Main and Class XII as they cover the syllabus comprehensively and are recommended by teachers.
Q10: Did you face any problems during the JEE Main examination? Which subject was the easiest and which was the toughest in JEE Main? What do you think is a tough thing to manage during the JEE Main exam?
Ipsit Mittal: I did not face any major problems during the JEE Main examination. I found Mathematics relatively easier compared to Physics and Chemistry. Managing time during the exam can be challenging, especially

Hello
Yes, it creates a problem if you're 12th LC(state OBC) and JEE(Central OBC/EWS) categories differ.
JoSAA requires a central OBC-NCL certificate for OBC reservation; since Karnataka OBC isn't central, you will be treated as general, or you can use a Declaration for OBC-to-General conversions from during counseling, but switching to EWS needs you to have applied as EWS initially. Your EWS certificate works if you meet the income criteria, but yes the important thing is Central OBC list for OBC, not state list.
Hope it helps you, in case of any doubts you can directly drop your query or you can visit to Careers360.com
