Is it possible to crack JEE Main in 2 months? This is the most common question asked by students. Any two-month preparation strategy needs to be bifurcated into various stages. The first stage is to complete important chapters, and the next stage needs to include solving problems and taking mock tests.
Prior to commencing any two-month preparation schedule, do a practice test at the level of JEE Main. It will give you insight into:
Topics known to you
Topics that require revision
Topics where more time is spent
Accuracy of your answers
Your weak areas
Your present approach for the JEE Main exam
In light of the fact that there is just one more month left, it will not be practical for those who are unprepared to cover all the chapters thoroughly. Concentrate on the chapters that are relevant or high-scoring.
Physics: Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Semiconductors, Ray Optics, Units & Measurements, and Thermodynamics & Mechanics sections.
Chemistry: Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, Periodic Table, Basic Concept of Organic Chemistry, Biomolecules, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics and Important Chapters of Inorganic Chemistry.
Maths: Matrices & Determinants, Vector Algebra, 3D Geometry, Sequence & Series, Probability, Statistics, Limits, Continuity & Differentiability and some topics from Coordinate Geometry.

The NCERT book is crucial to your preparation for the JEE Main Chemistry syllabus, especially in case of inorganic chemistry and certain fact-based parts of chemistry.
Don’t just keep reading the chapters again and again;
Read the NCERT theory relevant to the chapter.
Underline definitions and reactions.
Note down important facts.
Practise JEE Main problems in the chapter.
PYQs of JEE Main are very helpful in the last two months before your exam since they give you insight into the type of questions asked in the exam.
Initially, solve PYQs in chapters separately. But once you revise all your chosen topics, then try solving them as mixed practice sets.
During PYQs solving, keep a note of the following things:
Questions that could not be solved
Questions solved wrongly
Forgotten concepts
Questions taking more time
To get 99 percentile in JEE Main in 2 months, the 2-month schedule can be broken into 3 stages.
Days 1-10: Evaluate your preparation and create basics.
Take a mock JEE Main test initially to figure out your existing performance level. Check chapters which you can do well, which require revision and those in which you cannot do questions.
Prepare a list of finished, partly finished and unfinished chapters.
Revise basics in chapters which you have already completed.
Prepare a list of important chapters keeping in view your strengths, syllabus and previous year's questions.
Solve PYQs chapterwise instead of reading theory all the time.
Days 11-25: Study Important Chapters
Use this period to study important chapters of all the three subjects. Prioritise the subjects which you are able to study and practise in the given time.
Study the concepts and examples of physics.
Study the NCERT theory, reactions, and numerical concepts of chemistry.
Practise mathematics questions on a daily basis rather than solving the solution of the question.
Solve PYQs after the completion of each chapter and note down your mistakes.
Days 26-40: Enhance Speed and Accuracy
By now, you would have had a collection of pre-prepared chapters to revise and practice on.
Attempt mixed question sets of the completed chapters.
Try timed practice tests and evaluate yourself.
Revise any weak topics identified during the question practice.
Rethink questions that you got wrong previously.
Days 41-50: Mock Test and Error Analysis
This phase will help you assess how well you have been able to utilize your preparation under exam conditions.
Do full-length mock tests periodically.
Analyze all those questions that were answered wrongly or left unanswered or took much time to answer.
Revisit the concepts from where errors kept occurring.
Practice choosing questions based on difficulty level and time available.
Day 51-60: Revising and Exam Preparation
The last 10 days must be used to consolidate what you have prepared and not try learning the entire syllabus again.
Revisit short notes, formulae, reactions, and important NCERT facts.
Attempt selected PYQs and those which you did wrong before.
Analyse your mock-test results and the mistakes made.
Write practice tests only if you can analyse them well.
Sleep at fixed times and don’t exhaust yourself while studying.
The timetable depends on one’s school time and personal routine. One possible schedule could be:
Time | Activity |
6:00 AM – 7:00 AM | Formula revision and quick concept review |
7:00 AM – 8:00 AM | Breakfast and school preparation |
8:00 AM – 2:00 PM | School or coaching classes |
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Lunch and rest |
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Physics concepts and numerical practice |
4:30 PM – 4:45 PM | Short break |
4:45 PM – 6:15 PM | Mathematics concepts and problem-solving |
6:15 PM – 7:00 PM | Refreshment and physical activity |
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Chemistry and NCERT revision |
8:00 PM – 8:45 PM | Dinner and rest |
8:45 PM – 9:45 PM | Previous-year questions (PYQs) and mixed practice |
9:45 PM – 10:15 PM | Revise mistakes and plan the next day |
10:30 PM | Sleep |
The number of hours is not fixed to get any definite marks in JEE Main. Students need to concentrate on the effective time spent on studies.
A student who has school and coaching will have less time for self-study compared to a dropper. The essential factors in either case are:
Stick to the timetable.
Avoid unnecessary distractions.
Practice questions daily.
Analyze mock tests.
Revision.
Adequate sleep.

Physics needs clarity of concepts, formulas, and their applications to problems involving numbers. During the last two months, concentrate only on certain chapters and practice questions.
Formula revision: Make a list of all important formulas and revise them on daily basis.
Concentrate on specific topics: Choose Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Semiconductors, Ray Optics and Units and Measurement based on your preparation.
Do numerical problems: Do chapter-wise previous year questions once you have revised the concept.
Know your mistakes: See whether your mistakes are due to lack of concepts or improper use of formulas or miscalculation.
Choose proper questions: If any problem takes more time then choose other question.
Chemistry can be prepared with a blend of revision of NCERT, practice of reactions, concepts and solving numerical problems. Break your preparation in Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry.
Physical Chemistry: Improve your formulas and practice numerical problems in chapters like Chemical Kinetics and Electrochemistry as per your preparation level.
Organic Chemistry: Improve your basics, study reactions patterns and revise important reactions. Practice questions to see if you can apply the concepts that you have learnt.
Inorganic Chemistry: Go through NCERT theory in related chapters, revise important facts and practice problems based on chemical properties.
Keep short notes: Make short notes separately for formulas, reactions and facts that you often forget.
Practice PYQs: Work on chapter wise problems to know the concept application in the examination.
Mathematics involves continuous practice of problems. Just by reading theories or seeing video solutions, you cannot improve speed and precision.
Select topics smartly: Matrices and Determinants, Vector Algebra, Three-Dimensional Geometry, Sequence and Series, Probability and Statistics could be selected depending on your present status.
Practice daily: Attempt an easy number of problems rather than leave mathematics for infrequent prolonged periods.
Comprehend the solution procedure: If you find it difficult to solve any problem, learn its solution and then attempt to solve it yourself.
Keep an error book: Note down problems related to concepts which you forgot, mistakes in calculation and wrong approach.
Revisit old topics: Try attempting previous problems after some time to find out if you are able to solve them without help.
The following are the mistakes that students commit, which cost them their precious time of preparation:
1. Trying to Finish the Whole Syllabus
When you are not fully prepared, trying to cover all the chapters may consume too much of your time in revision and PYQs.
2. Using Too Many Books
Using many books at once can make you confused. Limit your sources of preparation and practice.
3. Neglecting Previous Year Question Papers
Reading theory without practicing PYQs from JEE Main is not enough.
4. Taking Mock Tests Without Analysis
Taking mock tests is of no use if you do not analyze your mistakes.
5. Learning New Concepts Until the Last Moment
The last few days should be spent only in revision, PYQs, formulas, important reactions and analysis of your mock test.
6. Comparing your Preparation With Others
Everyone has a different level of preparation and so you should not compare yourself with others.
There are ways that the students can prepare themselves for the JEE Main without having to go for coaching. Some suggestions are as follows:
1. Fix Targets for Every Day & Week: Divide the two-month syllabus into small weekly targets and keep yourself updated with your progress.
2. Make an Error Book: Keep a note of all errors you make, confusing topics and important shortcuts that can help you revise quickly before exams.
3. Practice Time-Limited Questions: Practice questions in a limited period of time to increase your speed and question selection ability.
4. Learn an Attempt Strategy for the Exam: Learn how to select the right questions to answer first, second, third and which to leave during the exam.
5. Use Online Resources: Utilize the online lectures, study material and practice sites for clearing your confusing concepts by not wasting time in searching for the material.
