How to Effectively Use NCERT Books for JEE Main Preparation

It's not enough to just study NCERT books; you also need to know how to use them wisely. Before tackling any tasks, make sure you have carefully studied each chapter and grasp the fundamental ideas. Completing the activities after the chapter will help you understand more about each topic and will also help you prepare for the types of questions that you will likely encounter in JEE Main.

Additionally, when you study, jot down brief notes. You can use these summaries as a quick reference before the test. In particular, the charts and diagrams for chemistry and physics should not be overlooked. Practice comprehending graphical analysis and data interpretation as these are key components of many JEE Main problems. Finally, go over the NCERT textbooks for JEE Mains Chemistry, Maths, and Physics several times; it keeps ideas clear and helps cement them in your mind.

Why JEE Main 2026 Needs More Than Just NCERT Books

Even though NCERT books are great for aligning the syllabus and providing conceptual clarity, they might not address the level of difficulty required to get higher marks in JEE Main. The JEE Mains Maths NCERT books do a great job of teaching the basic ideas, but for more difficult issues, you will need to practice more questions from reference books like Arihant or Cengage.

NCERT emphasizes fundamental concepts in physics and chemistry, but JEE Main frequently assesses students' problem-solving skills in intricate, multi-step scenarios. This is the reason it's crucial to include question banks and mock exams in your practice. NCERT forms the base, but other materials are required to completely prepare you for the challenging competition ahead.

For JEE Main 2026, calculators will not be allowed in the exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that no physical or virtual calculator will be provided. Earlier, there was confusion because of a typing mistake in the information bulletin, but NTA has now clearly said that students have to do all the calculations manually during the exam.

The calculator ban in JEE Main 2026 will test aspirants’ mental arithmetic and manual calculation skills, making speed and accuracy entirely dependent on practice. Regular solving of numerical problems without a calculator will be key to maintaining efficiency during the exam.  For more information, go through this article https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/how-virtual-calculator-impacts-the-preparation-of-jee-mains
