JEE Main Physics Syllabus 2026 The National Testing Agency published the JEE Mains 2026 physics syllabus PDF on the website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main Physics syllabus 2026 has been updated on this page as well. The JEE Main Physics syllabus will comprise 20 units. Further, there will be two sections: Section A, which covers theory with 80% weightage, while Section B focuses on practical components with 20% weightage. The question paper will be based on the JEE Main 2026 syllabus. Aspirants are advised to prepare all the topics listed in the JEE Mains physics syllabus 2026 to score high marks in JEE Main 2026. Candidates must check the JEE Mains exam pattern to familiarise themselves with the test format. The JEE Mains exam will be conducted in two sessions, from January 21 to 30, 2026, while the second session will be held from April 2 to 9, 2026.

Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation

Experimental Skills

Familiarity with the basic approach and observations of the experiments and activities:

  • Vernier callipers-its use to measure internal and external diameter and depth of a vessel.
  • Screw gauge-its use to determine thickness/ diameter of thin sheet/wire.
  • Simple Pendulum-dissipation of energy by plotting a graph between square of amplitude and time.
  • Metre Scale-mass of a given object by principle of moments.
  • Young's modulus of elasticity of the material of a metallic wire.
  • Surface tension of water by capillary rise and effect of detergents.
  • Co-efficient of Viscosity of a given viscous liquid by measuring terminal velocity of a given spherical body.
  • Plotting a cooling curve for the relationship between the temperature of a hot body and time.
  • Speed of sound in air at room temperature using a resonance tube.
  • Specific heat capacity of a given (i) solid and (ii) liquid by method of mixtures.

Last year, the National Testing Agency reduced the JEE Main syllabus for physics by removing topics such as scalars & vectors, vector addition & subtraction and more. The JEE Main 2026 physics syllabus has been reduced for the vectors topic to avoid overlapping with the maths syllabus. Candidates have to study the removed topics as they are still a part of the JEE Main mathematics syllabus. Students must carefully go through the updated syllabus provided in the table above. JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

In the previous year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) updated the JEE Main exam pattern. As per the revised pattern, Section B no longer includes optional questions. Candidates must attempt all five questions per subject for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (BPlanning), with no choices available. The JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted as a computer-based test with a duration of three hours. The paper will consist of 75 questions, carrying a total of 300 marks. Candidates can check the detailed exam pattern to understand the mode of exam, types of questions, marking scheme, and more.

For example, in the given GEN-EWS certificate format the financial year given is 2024-25 but you are appearing for JEE Main 2026 so you need to edit the certificate and write that the gross annual income of his/her family” is below

If you’re appearing for Class 12 (HSC) in 2026 and don’t have your board admit card or roll number yet, you can leave the “Registration No./Enrollment No./Roll No.” field blank or enter “NA” (Not Applicable) if the form allows.

Do not enter your school GR number, as it’s not recognized by the exam board or NTA.
Once your board issues the admit card or registration number, it can be updated later during JEE Main form correction or at the time of result verification.

So, for now, safely enter “NA” or leave blank — not your GR number.

The EWS category is based on the family’s annual income, which must be below 8 lakhs from all sources.
The certificate should be issued by a competent government authority and must be valid for the current financial year.

You should enter your mother’s name as per your Aadhaar card , which is Shaik Nazima Begum .

The JEE application is verified mainly with your Aadhaar details, so it’s better to keep it the same to avoid mismatch.

There will be no big problem if there is a small difference like “Begum” added, but it’s good to keep all documents matching in the future. You can update your school records or Aadhaar later to make them the same everywhere.
