JEE Main 2026 Bio-metrics Verification - NTA has introduced biometric verification for the JEE Main 2026 exam. The JEE Main 2026 bio-metrics verification will be done at the exam centre before entry. Facial and fingerprint scanning come under JEE Main 2026 bio-metric verification. Candidates will not be allowed into the JEE Main 2026 exam centre without completing the biometric verification. The JEE Main 2026 exam for Session 1 will be held from January 21 to 24, 2026, and on January 28 & 29, 2026. The 75 per cent marks criterion for JEE Main 2026 refers to the eligibility requirement for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Candidates will have to secure at least 75 per cent aggregate marks in Class 12 (65 per cent for SC, ST candidates) or be among the top 20 percentiles of their respective board examinations. This criterion applies at the time of admission and not for appearing in the JEE Main exam.

The authority conducts the biometric verification to authenticate a candidate’s identity and to ensure transparency, fairness, and to eliminate the chance of impersonation during the JEE Main exam. Candidates must carry their JEE Main 2026 admit card while attending the exam.
NTA usually conducts the JEE Main 2026 biometric verification in a particular order. The order of steps of the JEE Main biometric verification 2026 is as follows.
The JEE Main 2026 admit card and photo ID are verified by the authorities.
Candidates have to then scan their fingerprint at the biometric kiosk.
Once the fingerprint is verified, the candidate’s facial image is captured.
The biometric data collected before the exam has to match the data in the NTA records.
Once the biometric data matches, the candidate gets final clearance to enter the exam hall.
