JEE Advanced Class 12th Percentage Criteria 2026

There are various rules regarding the performance in Class 12 or equivalent examinations for the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates must clear the given JEE Advanced eligibility criteria.

    • Candidates are required to pass the class 12 (or equivalent) board examination. The Class 12 exam must include a minimum of five subjects, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language, and any one other subject.

    • Or candidates must have appeared for the improvement in all subjects in Class 12 (or equivalent) board examination with a minimum of five subjects and be within the top 20 percentile.

    • The marksheet submitted by the candidates for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination must be issued by a single examination Board.

    • To calculate the top 20 percentile criterion, five subjects' marks will be calculated. The subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, language and any subject other than the above four.

    • The marks of these five subjects will be divided by 500 and multiplied by 100 to get the percentage.

    • If a candidate has appeared in Class 12 in 2024 for the first time, and again reappeared in all subjects in 2025 or 2026. The best board marks among the three years will be considered for the JEE Advanced exam.

    • In the same way, if candidates have attempted Clas 12 in 2025 and again reappeared in all subjects in 2026, JEE Advanced will consider the best of the two performances.

    • If the Board sums up the marks of both Class 11 and Class 12 exams, then only Class 12 marks will be considered.

    • If the Class 12 result is based on all three years of a 3-year diploma or courses of equivalent duration, then only the final year marks will be considered.

    • In case of a semester system, the marks scored in the final two semesters will be favoured,

    • If any subjects, like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Language, are not the final year of a 3-year diploma course, marks will be calculated from the earlier years for the total percentage of marks.

    • In case any of the five subjects is not similar ot the final year, then for calculating the percentage, only the marks for the same subject from the previous year will be taken.

    • And if the board doesn't give marks for each subject but gives only the aggregate marks, then the former marks will be considered.
